Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies are asking for help in locating a south Sacramento woman who has been missing since September.

Bao Sun, 38, was reported missing from her Blackhawk Drive home Sept. 12. When her husband reported her missing, it wasn't considered an "at-risk missing person" case, Sgt. Tim Curran stated in a news release.

Since then, Sun's vehicle and personal items have been recovered, which have led investigators to think Sun may be at risk, he said.

Sun is described as 5-feet-7-inches, 110 pounds, with shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a checkered, long-sleeve shirt and blue jeans, Curran said.

Anyone who has seen Sun or knows her whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff's department at (916) 874-5115.

Comments about the story on the newspaper's website:

heard from a different media source that she owns a business in the bay area and that she travels there frequently and will be gone for weeks at a time. It is not against the law for an adult to go missing as they are free to leave at any time. It became an at risk situation when her car was found abandoned at a strip mall in Sacramento and her drivers license was delivered by the post office to her house. Again, I heard this through another media source so how much of it is true depends on their info. That would be why it took a month. I do think that it appeared that the authorities acted quickly once the possibility of foul play was there.

Bao Sun was reported missing , by her husband on Sept. 12, 2007. That is when the police should have gotten to work on the case.

(I wish the article would have described her ethnicity. I assume she's Asian, but that's just an assumption. Maybe she's half Asian? I don't know. Is she Chinese? Vietnamese? Hmong? Korean? More detail would certainly be helpful.

A Sacramento woman is missing and her disappearance is mysterious at best.

Bao Sun is 38 years old and has not been seen since September 7. She told her soon-to-be ex-husband that night she was going out to meet her boyfriend to pick up money the boyfriend owed Bao. When Bao did not return home, her husband, Dennis Yen, went looking for her.

A few days later he discovered her car in the parking lot of the former Florin Mall. Police searched the vehicle Wednesday night at the couple's home.

Details of Disappearance

Sun was last seen at her home on Blackhawk Drive in Sacramento, California on September 7, 2007. She and her husband, Dennis Yen, were in the process of a divorce at the time. He says he last saw her when she left the residence to meet her boyfriend and collect some money the boyfriend owed her.

Sun has never been heard from again. A few days after she was last seen, Yen found her car in the parking lot of the former Florin Mall. There was no sign of Sun at the scene. Her husband reported her missing on September 12.

Yen stated several weeks after Sun's disappearance, a woman went to his home and gave him Sun's driver's license and a photo of her young son which she normally carried with her. The woman claimed the items were mailed to her by the post office after being found loose inside a mailbox.

Sun is considered to be at risk because it is uncharacteristic of her to leave without warning. Her disappearance remains unsolved.
