October 23, 2007
MADISON, Wis. -- Columbia County police are asking the public for help in locating a missing person.
Hugh Hentz disappeared last Wednesday near his Portage-area home, WISC-TV reported.
Authorities said Hentz left without his medication and may be confused. Investigators said he loves hunting and may be in the Columbia or Dodge County area.
Hugh might be driving a dark blue 1991 ford F-150 pickup truck with dark blue topper and Wisconsin registration DX1693.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities located Wednesday in rural Portage County the truck they believe missing Portage resident Hugh Hentz was driving when he disappeared Oct. 17, but a ground and aerial search failed to uncover any clues about where he might have gone.
Portage County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Gary Koehmstedt said the truck was found stuck in mud on a back road near Department of Natural Resources land about four miles southeast of Kellner, near the intersections of Portage County Highways W and F.
"He got stuck going through off-road areas," Koehmstedt said. "We conducted an air and land search of the area where the vehicle was found."
No new clues were discovered during the search of the open grassland area surrounding the truck, he said. Koehmstedt said dogs will be brought in today to aid search teams as they investigate nearby wooded areas. Authorities were unsure how long the vehicle had been stuck before it was discovered.

Stacey Oliphant always will remember her husband for the love that they shared.
"He was my best friend in the whole world, and I just loved him to pieces," Oliphant said Sunday, a day after Portage County officials found the body of Hugh Hentz.
The 48-year-old Pardeeville-area man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Portage County Coroner Scott Rifleman ruled.
"I was there when they found him. I'm very, very glad that I was there. I would have felt horrible if I wasn't. It would have been hard," Oliphant said.
