Circumstances of Disappearance

In June 1975, Chris, originally from Hastings, MN, and a friend moved to Arizona and worked while waiting to enter Bell and Howell School. Before he started school, Chris met Geno Ranelli.

Chris changed his mind about school and returned to Minnesota with Geno to start a business. They set up a shop in East St. Paul, MN. The shop sold various products made of Redwood. They closed the shop in 1977.

During this time, his family did not know where Chris lived. His parents think he may have lived in St. Paul, MN or Red Wing, MN. He would occasionally call or show up for family events.

On May 8, 1977, Chris made a phone call to his parents, to wish his mother a Happy Mother's Day and let her know that he would not make that day's family celebration. That was the last contact his family had with him. As they did not know Chris's address or phone number, it took a while to realize that he was missing.

According to Geno's sister, Chris and Geno left for Philadelphia on May 20, 1977. There was also information that they may have ultimately been headed for Miami. Chris and Geno have not been heard from since.

While Chris' case is being investigated by law enforcement, there is no missing persons report on file for Geno.

Chris had left some of his possessions in storage. The items included a car, some collectible coins and items from the redwood shop.

There has been many rumors and speculation what happened to Chris, that he left voluntarily, that he was a victim of foul play, also including some possible sightings in Phoenix and Minneapolis. Nothing has however been confirmed.

Very sad case. I was just looking into Geno's case as well. Does anyone know if the same lieutenant is still working on this case?

Details of Disappearance

Freeman's family last heard from him when he called his parents from Minnesota on May 8, 1977. His family does not know where he was living at the time but he may have resided in Red Wing or Saint Paul, Minnesota. He has never been heard from again.

One of Freeman's friends, Geno Ranelli, disappeared a few weeks after Freeman did. They had owned a shop together in East St. Paul, Minnesota which sold products made of redwood, but they closed it earlier in 1977.

When he disappeared, Freeman left behind some belongings in storage, including a car, some collectible coins and some of the items from his shop. It's theorized he and Ranelli disappeared together and may have been en route to Pennsylvania. Both cases remain unsolved.

Has anyone considered them as one of Kraft's 2 for 1 on his cypher? Maybe they had car trouble and hitchhiked and met the wrong trucker (as there were many active as serial killers at the time)
