    Beautiful Love Story

Sometimes we need something here to make us realize that life is really a beautiful thing most of the time.

Sandra Day O'Connor retired from the U.S. Supreme Court last year to care for her husband, John, who has Alzheimer's disease.
Now he's fallen in love with another woman - and his wife approves.

The normalcy of an Alzheimer's romance doesn't make it any easier for spouses, though. Some react like Ms. O'Connor, who was relieved that her husband of 54 years finally felt content in his nursing home.
"Mom was thrilled that Dad was relaxed and happy and comfortable being here," her son said.

I just really think that Justice O'Connor has really shown her strength in this situation, and really wants the best for her husband.

I saw this on the news yesterday and I really admire her. It shows she truly loves her husband and I think she is a wonderful, classy woman.

Apparently, this is a somewhat frequent occurence among those with Alzheimers. A friend is where you find them.

My son and I were listening to this the other day and he just didn't realize the ramifications of Alzheimers. It is such a cruel disease.
I was on an airplane last month and there was a movie about this with Julie Christie about this very dliemma. It was so heartbreaking that I did something I never do. I sat in my plane seat and just sobbed. It got so bad that I offered my headset to the lady next to me who didn;t have one and was just watching the movie with no sound. So I watched the end of the movie with no sound and made up my own words.

The Movie was called Away from her

I liked The Notebook with James Garner and Gena Rowlands.

My FIL has Alzheimers and since we had to move in to take care of him he has begun attaching himself to my mother (I have my mom living with us as well due to mental illness and inability to take care of herself properly). I mean to the extent of going to the doctor and asking for Viagra! A couple of weeks ago we caught him trying to peep in her bedroom window!!

We try to keep things light because what are we gonna do, we can't change it, ya know?! I always joke with my hubby about his new "step-mom" and that we are step-siblings LOL.
