Spoke with Sgt. Mullins today. Ms. Davis has not been compared or even considered. After looking at her information, he felt she was worth checking into further. The thing that caught his attention (and mine too) is she has a visible browridge. She should be an easy rule out or in with the leg and teeth.
When and if she is ruled out he said he would let me know.
So now to hurry up and wait.....

See the doe link for photos of her things and the reconstruction.

    Here are her stats:

    Unidentified Black Female

    * The victim was discovered on November 14, 2007 in LaVergne, Rutherford County, Tennessee
    * Estimated Date of Death: 4 months prior
    * Skeletal remains

    Vital Statistics

    * Estimated age: 25-49 years old
    * Approximate Height and Weight: 5'5"-5'6".
    * Distinguishing Characteristics: Short brown hair.
    * Dentals: Available. She had an abscess.
    * Clothing: Bracelet with at least eight feline photos in it manufactured by Avon; a bracelet with ceramic beads bound with a dark cord; a ring believed to be gold-plated with light blue and amber-colored stones.
    * DNA: Available at University of North Texas

    Case History
The victim was found in a rural part of LaVergne, Tennessee in November 2007.
The woman's wrists and feet were also bound with a green cord, similar to that used on a yard trimmer.
However, Namus says they can't estimate her height or weight and say the remains were partial, all the limbs and hands were not recovered.

She was found by a police officer at opening of atv trail.

She had some teeth missing antemortem plus some fillings.

LaVERGNE, Tenn. -- Officials said some remains found in LaVergne last week are those of a shooting victim.

Police said they aren't sure who she is, but said she was shot in the head.

A police officer found the remains off Hollandale Road. Officials said her body had apparently been there for close to five months.

There was a tip from a person who thought she recognized the victim

but it turned out this person was ruled out by way of being alive.

The mystery surrounding the unidentified woman has recently brought closure to several middle Tennessee families.

For example, Evelyn Tate's loved ones thought she was the slain woman. A search by the LaVergne police found Tate was living in Atlanta.

Police said they've been able to solve several local missing person cases while investigating this homicide.

"It did make us feel good we was able to help those citizens that thought it was a family member, which we actually found live and well just in different parts of other states," said Mullen.
In the meantime, Jane Doe is still waiting for her identity.

Grendette Hooks disappeared from New Haven in the summer of 2007: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...grendette.html

Right height, very little other detail. Hooks is a bit older than the UID's age range.

Jane Doe's dentals are in Namus now and it sounds like a no to me if the info is correct.

    http://www.nampn.org/cases/davis_anita_renee.html
    Distinguishing Characteristics: Missing all
front teeth, hands frequently swollen, large mole on left
upper thigh, healed fracture of left leg and walks with limp
The UID had some intact front teeth left or they were gone post mortem:

My bad for not updating this one, she was indeed ruled out. Just so everyone knows, there are times I can't update cases (this wasn't one of them) because of confidentiality clauses from LE.

Even with rule outs, I won't take a chance unless I have explicit permission from LE to share information. Although it seems like it wouldn't hurt LE to release exclusions, I suppose there are situations where they might not want someone to know they're considering someone as possiby dead- it might tip off a suspect of something.

Anyhow, I always encourage LE to use NamUs. In this case though, the update just slipped by me.

A new facial reconstruction has been created for this Jane Doe, and police are appealing to the public for leads.

I wonder if they've checked out Tiwana Murphy

    http://www.nampn.org/cases/murphy_tiwana.html

Those earrings looked pretty close, but upon further inspection, they are not quite the same.

Her jawline isn't quite that broad either

Mary Ann White looks very similar. Especially at the bridge of the nose.

    http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/w/white_mary.html

But she is probably too tall at 5'11" compared to the Jane Doe (approx 5'6").

If this is similar to the bracelet that the UID was wearing and we can trust the buyer of this item, then we could guess that the missing person probably disappeared around but not before 2003 (that is if this bracelet was only made during 2003 by Avon).

I wonder if Joyce Durham was ever considered. She seems to fit a lot of the criteria for the UID.

She is in the age range at 46 years old
She is in the height range at 5'2"
She matches the physical description quite well
She appears to be wearing gold hoops in her photo
She also disappeared in the middle of June 2007 which would be a little over their initial estimate that the UID had been at the location for 4 or so months.

I agree on this match as well. I was looking up this case to find out if she had been considered. I think it needs to be submitted. Here's a side-by-side:

    http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/d/durham_joyce.html

Joyce is considered to be the victim of a serial killer.

Thanks CherBear. I submitted the possible match to the Rockey Mount police dept. in NC. Hoping to hear back soon!

I just received feedback from LE that this is not a match:

Thanks for your information. I spoke with the local medical examiner in Tennessee about this case last year. It is not our missing B/F. Thanks again for your concern in this matter.

I am sad to see that this is not a match and we cannot give this UID back her name. Back to the drawing boards I guess...

Is there any possibility this could be Destiney Hicks? See her case profile:
http://www.nampn.org/cases/hicks_destiney.html She has schizophrenia and if on the road for a year or so, from March of 2006 to approximate time of death in June / July of the next year, the hair length would be about right, I think?

    Hoping for closure....
