The search has not lapsed for an elderly Stanley man that went missing nearly three months ago.
Russel Kilen, 83, was last seen leaving Stanley's Cenex convenience store after he paid for a pizza. It was 6:20 p.m. Nov. 25. Winter conditions had made the situation more precarious for searchers. Compounding concerns, is that Kilen is an insulin-dependent diabetic.
"He is still out there somewhere and we want to find him," said Mountrail County Sheriff Ken Halvorson. "He does have diabetes. He does have case of dementia. This could have affected his judgment."
Halvorson speculates that it is possible that Kilen may have gotten confused about times when he and his wife used to go down to Arizona.
"Maybe it came to his mind," Halvorson said. "There are so many things we do not know - how much money he had, how much fuel he had. He had no medication with him."
