NIH Breast Cancer Calculator

I heard about that on the news last night (which no doubt you were watching too, LOL). It wasn't what I expected it to be and am not sure how serious to take the results. It just seems there would be so many more factors involved in getting breast cancer or not.

But, if nothing else, it is nice to see just how big the risk is on average, and to see where one relates to that.

My 5 year risk is 0.5% (average 0.5%) and lifetime risk 10.3% (average 12.4%).

Hi JanetElaine!

I think it's a good basis to start with if you are interested. It's apparently what major hospitals are using along with their own diagnosis tools and exams.

Nothing beats checking the twins regularly though.

Also, it's apparently not as accurate for African-Americans. I didn't see that listed on their info page. I wonder what makes it more difficult to calculate their percentages.

How do you get it to come up?
I clicked on the link, but it didn't show the 7 questions.
