Parents, please limit passengers in your childs car! 7 girls in a Chevy malibu is absurd!

Bless their hearts! Yes it is absurd, but at that age none of us could see that far into the future..here and now is what we saw.I would go into why the parents allowed this to happen, but having a teen myself I am learning that we cannot control every move they make as hard as we try.. God please embrace these girls, gone far too soon.

I think I found the myspace pages of two of the girls.

What a shame seems like really sweet girls. My daughter is 17 and a cheerleader so this hits me close to home. She just started driving a few weeks ago and is not aloud to have anyone in her car. My prayers go out to these families.

As parents all we can do is teach them to the best of our ability. Even so they are only human and they will make bad choices at times as we all do. This is such any unnecessary loss.

Awww thats so sad. :(

i hate reading about cheerleader stories. I still think of the 5 cheerleaders from NY that died in that bad car accident everyday.

MsPooh, you are absolutely right. I too thought I could "control" what my teen was doing. I would have been the first person to wonder out loud what the heck parents are doing, and where they are until I had a teen myself. My first in her class, private academy daughter went to jump in a very expensive car with FIVE guys. Some small car alreadu packed. I recall thinking "she's supposed to be so smart". This is just so heartbreaking. So sad. These poor families. Sending prayers up for them.

How very very sad..I think most of us thought we were 10ft tall and bulletproof when we were teens....its proberly just pure luck that some of us made it this far....my prayers to the family and friends of these girls..what a sad Christmas they are in for:(

Hayden is a little town of about 500 when I was growing up. About 6,000 or so now. My daddy grew up there and still lives there. Pretty rural and the folks are close knit. Lots of farming and football. I guess it's fairly mayberryish in a lot of ways. Most all the parents are very involved with their kids and the schools.

So sad. Though I agree that kids think they are superheros and nothing bad will happen to them...even if you tell them and teach them otherwise.

I just hate to hear stories like this; teenagers are so often "clueless" about mortality, I agree.

I always told my kids that each person should have a seatbelt; otherwise it's too many, but I'm sure they didn't always follow my advice.

Much of the time they did, though; so I'm thankful for that. KIds DO need rules and they need to follow them; deep down they usually do want to please their parents even though they don't always act like it.

Mine always knew we would literally "kill them" if they ever drove under the influence. That and speed (MPH) are huge factors in these car wrecks.
