Sounds like he was just a wonderful guy to have 2 different women take a shot at him....
 
If he was slapping around the first wife, he was doing the same to the second wife. But did you see that she shot him in front of a Deputy.

Wow.........he must have been more then a Jerk. Too bad she can't say this is justified.
 
The calls reporting the incident came from off-duty Sheriff's Deputy John Martinez. According to the affidavit for an arrest warrant released by the sheriff's department, Martinez maintained a bedroom at the Tatums' residence.

"(Martinez) visits there," Sheriff Jim Casias said. Martinez is also the ex-husband of Jim Tatum's secretary from Tatum's stint as county attorney.

Martinez spoke with his fellow members of the sheriff's department when they arrived. He told them he had witnessed the entire incident. The investigating deputies reported that Martinez stated that prior to the deputies' arrival, Ann and Jim Tatum had both been in the kitchen when, according to Martinez, Jim had "suddenly become belligerent" with Ann. Martinez told deputies that when Ann requested Jim act more civil, he slapped her in the face.

Martinez reported to deputies that at that time he exited his bedroom and tried to stop Jim. He then claimed that Jim then grabbed Ann by the hair and punched her in the ribs. Martinez told deputies that he attempted to break the couple apart, only to be knocked aside, supposedly banging his head and rendering himself momentarily dazed.

Martinez told deputies that Ann then broke free of Jim's grasp and crossed the kitchen to grab .38-caliber gun from her purse. She reportedly then turned toward Jim and fired several times. Martinez reported that Jim fell to the ground, possibly hit, then stood back up and walked to the east side of the kitchen where he grabbed a .45-caliber gun from its holster.

According to Martinez, Ann was able to wrestle the .45 away from Jim and, turning the gun on Jim, she fired it.

Ann then reportedly set the two pistols on the kitchen counter and walked out of the kitchen. Martinez told deputies it was then that he called 911. Martinez also reported calling a friend of the Tatums, along with their ranch hand to come to the house to help him.

Oh man. He must have been one heck of a jerk. Not too bright either to slap around women that tote guns. Yikes!
