PA - Paul St John, 25, Vernon Township, 12 Dec 2007

    From http://www.goerie.com/apps/pbcs.dll/...0424/-1/NEWS02

    20 Dec 07

Vernon Township Police Chief Randy Detzel doesn't want to dispatch search teams that aren't needed.

That's why he's asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of Paul Anthony St. John Jr. to contact police. Detzel said the 25-year-old Cussewago Road man disappeared a week ago and that police aren't sure if something happened to him or if he's left the area for other reasons.

"We have been pounding the area hard," Detzel said, explaining that an extensive search on Saturday used a helicopter, ground search and a diving team.

Detzel said he's looking for St. John to call or for someone to come forward to confirm he's all right. If that happens, Detzel said, police might avoid potentially dangerous searches during cold winter weather.

Anyone with information can contact the township Police Department at (814) 333-6309.

According to his family and friends, Paul Anthony St. John Jr. may have left home and gone into hiding a week ago to avoid the police.

And if he was aware that area authorities and emergency crews spent a day extensively searching the Cussewago Creek area for him recently, he may have thought they were attempting to apprehend rather than rescue him.

I wonder why he would be hiding from the police? Sounds like he has tied LE's hands if he is hiding while they are trying to find him to make sure that he is alright. They are in a tough position.

I am originally from this area and found this article today. . .

It appears that they have found the body of this man and think he drowned accidently.

    "accidental drowning"?

it's highly unusual that they could make a determination of accidental drowning this soon without a complete investigation and all necessary tests and reports which could take up to 6 weeks to complete. or the police and the paper know something about this "accidental drowning they aren't sharing with the public.
