SC - Miriam Leeks, 37, homeless, beaten to death, Adams Run, 24 May 2002

March 2006:

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Three people have been arrested in the death of a woman nearly four years ago.

Keith-Renard Bradley, 29; Hans Frazier, 35; and Cynthia Major, 37; all of North Charleston, were arrested Friday night, more than a month after a witness told the Charleston County Sheriff's Office he saw the killing, according to an affidavit.

Mr. Bradley and Mr. Frazier were charged in the death of Miriam Leeks, 37, a homeless woman found in a rural wooded area. Her bludgeoned body was wrapped in a white sheet and black trash bags.

Ms. Major was charged with accessory after the fact of murder.

November 2007:

A North Charleston man who skipped out on his trial for murder last month is back behind bars after his arrest Wednesday on the grounds of a homeless shelter in Berkeley County, authorities said.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force found Keith Renard Bradley, 31, hiding on the property of C&S Community Care Home in Alvin.

January 2008:

Keith Renard Bradley was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday after a Charleston County jury convicted him of murdering Miriam Leeks with a shovel for refusing to follow through in a trade of sex for crack cocaine.

Bradley, 31, was found guilty after roughly three hours of deliberation, largely on the testimony of two co-defendants.

After the verdict was read, Leeks' family asked for the maximum penalty of life behind bars, saying her life was worth more than the hard times she'd fallen on.
