FBI releases altered photo of Laurean

Jacksonville, N.C. — The Federal Bureau of Investigation on Friday released an altered photograph of a Camp Lejeune Marine wanted for the slaying of a pregnant comrade who had accused him of rape.

The photo shows what agents believe Cpl. Cesar Laurean would look like with a beard and darker skin.

FBI agents said they do not know if Laurean has changed his appearance, but thought the picture could help identify him.

Investigators believe that Laurean has fled to Mexico. He was born in Guadalajara before moving to the U.S. and becoming an American citizen.

I haven't really been following this lately because there seemed to be no new developments. But after watching AMW last nite, it occurred to me, have the DNA results been released? Was the baby Cesar's?

New documents were made public today in the case against Cesar Laurean.

WITN News obtained six supbpoenas today from Onslow County Superior Court that show how authorities were trying the track activity between Laurean and his wife while he was on the run.
    snipped
One of the subpoenas is for activity on both Christina and Cesar Laurean's Yahoo email accounts from January 15 through February 22. Another is for phone calls made to a local Subway restaurant in Jacksonville on March 31st.

WITN asked Onslow County Captain Rick Sutherland who was working at the Subway and received those calls. He declined to answer.

Another subpoena is for information regarding any transactions or account changes to Cesar Laurean's bank account with Marine Federal Credit Union. Investigators also subpoenaed phone records for a Verizon cell phone number based out of Denver, Colorado.

online for months as a fugitive

A Marine charged with killing a pregnant colleague who had accused him of rape was active online for months as a fugitive, according to court documents released Wednesday.
The documents offer a comprehensive look at the monthslong search for Cpl. Cesar Laurean, who is charged in the death of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, 20, of Vandalia, Ohio.
Though he fled to Mexico in January, Laurean's constant contact with his wife and family eventually led to his arrest in April.
According to motions filed by prosecutors, he frequently logged into an e-mail account belonging to his wife, Christina, and left her messages. A person using a computer in Mexico City also accessed the couple's joint bank account.
