Lauterbach Family Pushes Congress To Pass Amendments

    POSTED: 6:23 pm EDT September 26, 2008
    UPDATED: 6:36 pm EDT September 26, 2008

DAYTON, Ohio -- After the death of her daughter, Mary Lauterbach launched a battle to improve the security of women in the military.
She faulted the Marines for not doing enough to protect her daughter, Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, when Maria reported that she had been raped by another Marine.

In an interview with WHIOTV.COM, her mother said she convinced Maria to report the attack.

“I was the one who said you have to report that. You owe it to all of your sister Marines to do that, so you have no choice. I was the one who pushed her to report it, not knowing what I was asking her to do. I feel that I owe it now to make it safe for other women to report their attacks,” Lauterbach said.

Lauterbach's mother shocked by case's latest twist
    Dayton Daily News - Dayton,OH,USA
    Tuesday, October 14, 2008

The mother of slain pregnant Marine Maria Lauterbach said she finds it shocking that the murder suspect's fight against extradition from Mexico could delay or possibly jeopardize the North Carolina court system's ability to try him.

"It's a tragedy after all the investment in this because a lot of people worked very hard to get to that point," said Mary Lauterbach, of Vandalia, on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Laurean's Wife Returns From Mexico Visit

    http://www.witn.com/home/headlines/34025414.html

The wife of Corporal Cesar Laurean has returned from Mexico after visiting her husband.
The Onslow County District Attorney's Office says Christina Laurean, herself a Camp Lejeune Marine, was back on base Tuesday morning.
Two weeks ago prosecutors were concerned after the Marine Corps gave Laurean's wife leave to visit her husband in a Mexican prison,
Cesar Laurean is being held in prison, fighting extradition back to North Carolina on charges he killed fellow Marine Maria Lauterbach.

    ...
Authorities have said Christina Laurean cooperated with investigators, but Hudson says he's not sure how this visit will impact her willingness to testify against her husband.

Laurean's home up for bid and he's frustrated about legal process???

    http://www.jdnews.com/news/laurean_6...auterbach.html

    According to Jacksonville Daily News:

Laurean's state appointed capital defender said he spoke to his client after the return to the U.S. of his wife. The Marine Corps granted Christina Laurean leave in November to visit with her husband in Mexico.
"He said he had a nice visit with his wife," Jacksonville attorney Dick McNeil said, adding that Laurean seems as frustrate as everyone else about where the legal process stands.
"No one can seem to pinpoint what is exactly is happening when," McNeil said.
Dewey Hudson, the district attorney for the 4th Prosecutorial District, which includes Onslow County, said he has not heard anything new on the Laurean case from Mexico.

Article also stated the Laurean home is in foreclosure and up for bid.

Gag order issued in Laurean case

Gag order issued in Laurean case
    ENC Today - Jacksonville,NC,USA
An Onslow County judge has issued a gag order in the Cesar Laurean case, according to court documents made public today
    Snip

The order states that to ensure Laurean's right to a fair trial, prosecutors, law enforcement officials and Laurean's defense attorney are not to release any information to the news media or the public that would "have a substantial likelihood of materially prejudicing an adjudicative proceeding in the matter."

That information includes Laurean's background, the results of any tests or nature of any physical evidence, opinions about Laurean's guilt or innocence, and any other information that would prejudice a trial, according to the order signed by Senior Resident Onslow County Superior Court Judge Charles Henry.
