A local mother is on a crusade to find her missing son. Police in Cocoa are desperate for information on what they consider to be a murder, even though they have yet to find a body.

Police are taking extraordinary measures to try to find Tremaine Peek's body and his killer. They have gone door-to-door, leaving behind flyers and talking to anyone that would talk to them in the neighborhood. That's just the latest step they've taken to try and solve the mystery.

A small army of police and volunteers fanned out across an apartment complex and the surrounding neighborhood Wednesday urging residents to come forward if they have any information about the disappearance of 18-year-old Tremaine Peek. Among them was his mother, Jennifer.

Peek disappeared last November. His girlfriend left his apartment, was talking with him on the phone and heard a single gunshot and he was never seen or heard from again.

That is a long time with no info. Sounds like a gang hit like the ones going on in North Carolina. LE should publish info about local gangs and their MO so local people would be more aware. Going door to door may not be a good idea in the neighborhood where the young man was killed. Some people may be afraid of talking and getting hurt themselves.Especially since there is no info publicly released this says a lot to me and relying on people who are afraid will not yield many results. I feel for his family this is terrible.

Safety is in numbers so the more nets in place the more people will talk. JMO.

Three years and no answers for Cocoa mother

The years tick by, but time's been at a standstill since Nov. 20, 2007, for Jennifer Peek.

"If someone knows something. If they could just write a note or leave information," she says. "No one has to know who you are. We just want closure."

Three years ago, Peek's 18-year-old son, Tremaine, was reported missing after an argument with his roommates. Cocoa police ruled the case a homicide.

No body has been found. Suspects have been identified, but not charged or named.

On November 19, 2007, the Cocoa Police Department received information of a suspicious incident regarding the disappearance of Tremaine Michael Peek (04/25/1989). Peek’s girlfriend was on the phone with him, when she heard a verbal argument between Peek and his roommates. The girlfriend then heard a loud noise that she considers to be a gun shot and then heard the other occupants of the apartment referring to Peek’s well-being.

During the subsequent investigation, it was revealed that a witness in the apartment complex had observed two males dragging a rolled-up carpet down the steps on the outside of the apartment complex while a female was observed to be “wiping” the steps behind the carpet. Peek has not been seen or heard from since the incident and is suspected of being the victim of a homicide.
