Murder suspect Dennis Tribble, ordered in December to repair his faltering relationship with his fifth court-appointed attorney, has received permission to fire the lawyer.
"It became very clear that the attorney-client relationship has been completely destroyed, nonexistent, adversarial," said prosecutor Joel Page, the Lamoille County state's attorney. "The passage of time since our pretrial hearing seemingly had not caused any improvement."
A judge told Tribble, 57, of Wolcott that the new lawyer, Dan Maguire of Essex, will be his last. If things don't work out, Tribble must represent himself.

From September 2013:
Police arrested Tribble after he shot Borello in September 2000 at the culmination of an escalating feud between the two residents of Jones Lane, according to court papers. After the two men confronted each other, Tribble shot Borello first with a handgun and then four more times with a shotgun while pursuing Borello down the road, the authorities allege.
Tribble has said he acted in self-defense.
The new Lamoille County state’s attorney, Paul Finnerty, has yet to meet Dennis Tribble, the man prosecutors have been trying for 15 years to convict of murder.
Tribble missed another court appearance this week, so Finnerty will have to wait a while longer to meet the man and prepare for a third murder trial...
Twice Tribble has been found guilty of murder, and twice those guilty verdicts have been overturned by the Vermont Supreme Court.
