Unhappy Eric Hall, 24, Charlotte County, FL

    http://www.sun-herald.com/Newsheadli...?headline=9725

Eric Hall, 24, was staying at his aunt's home in Deep Creek. He was last seen around 2 p.m. Sunday. His Yamaha motorcycle was found later that day in Harbour Heights, around Sulstone Drive and Pasadena Terrace. The CCSO sent deputies, K-9 units and a helicopter, to no avail.

"They haven't gotten any real leads as to where he is," said Eric's mother, Becky Hall, who flew to Florida from Indiana Wednesday morning. "We do the best we can. Honestly, I'm numb. I feel like I'm living in a dream -- my worst nightmare."

Eric was reportedly in the middle of a war flashback when he left. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2001 to 2005, serving first in Afghanistan and then in Iraq. On June 14, 2005 -- three months after arriving in Iraq -- a homemade explosive tore into his left side, destroying half the bone and muscle in his upper thigh. A man with him was killed. Eric was medically retired from the Marine Corps, and had surgery to put a metal rod in his hip. He walks with a strong limp."

    Hair: brownish-blond

    Eyes: brown

    Height: 5 feet, 9 inches

    Weight: 140 pounds

Clothing: black leather jacket with patch that says "In Memory of Pops" (a memorial to a friend's deceased father), plaid long-sleeved shirt, white T-shirt, blue jeans, possibly a motorcycle helmet

Tattoos: "sinner" written on inside of right bicep, "saint" on inside of left bicep, Chinese characters on stomach, dog tags on left side of ribcage, praying hands on left side of chest, and "established in 1983" written on lower back

Very sad, Missie. One of my friends has a son who's a little older than Eric, and Iraq has just completely ruined his mind. I hope they find Eric soon.

HARBOUR HEIGHTS The family of a missing man is asking for volunteers to help with the search.

Relatives of Eric Hall, 24, a former Marine who left his aunt's Deep Creek home Sunday afternoon and has not been seen since, announced they are planning a meeting at 8 a.m. today in Gilchrist Park for people who want to help search. The news was delivered during a press conference Saturday on Pasadena Terrace near Sulstone Drive in Harbour Heights, near where Hall's motorcycle was discovered lying in the road, still running on Feb. 3.

"This is somebody's son, somebody's brother," said Adam Birge, Hall's cousin. "He's someone who almost lost his life for this country."

My thoughts go out to this poor young man's family. How awful to have your son come back wounded and then to be so mentally wounded as well! Unfortunately, I think we will be seeing more of this kind of illness. I hope they find him soon.

Missing Ex-Marine's Family Says Video Game May Have Sparked Disappearance

Relatives of a missing ex-Marine wounded in Iraq fear a video game that simulates combat may have triggered war memories that led to his disappearance, Florida's Herald Tribune reported.

After playing "Call of Duty," Eric Hall "just got up and said he had to go," Courtney Birge, a family friend, told the newspaper.

The 24-year-old Hall left the home of a relative in Deep Creek, Fla., where he was staying, on Feb. 3, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office. He rode away on a motorcycle that was later found on a roadside, still running.

Too bad they played that video game. I would have hid it if he were in my house. He's not ready to see that yet.
Not that I blame the family. I have just heard those video games can be so "life like" (I don't play, so I don't know).
Though anything that many see as "minor" can trigger PTSD... he could have flipped past a new channel and seen something about the war, etc.

    Unhappy So sad...

    http://www.heraldtribune.com/article...NEWS/802120434

"But on Feb. 3, when Eric Hall was alone with his 86-year-old grandmother at his aunt's and uncle's house, his mind went haywire.

He sat in a chair as though he were shooting a gun and then knelt before the couch and prayed, said his grandmother, Melba Baker.

Then, she said, he knocked on the sliding glass door that leads to the screen porch and motioned her inside.

"He said, 'They're out there, they're out there,'" Baker recalled, adding that he wanted her to avoid the doors. Then he left.

"First he put his jacket on and he said, 'I've got to go. I've got to go.'"

Baker put her hands on his shoulder to try to convince him that the home was safe, but he did not listen."

A search team's bloodhound working to track a disabled former Marine who disappeared while suffering a “flashback” from his aunt's Deep Creek home 12 days ago led his handler to an area where tractor-trailer trucks park behind a Port Charlotte gas station Wednesday night.

That suggests the missing man, Eric W. Hall, 24, could have caught a ride with a trucker and departed the area, theorized Mike Bodah, executive director for the Southwest Florida K-9 Search Unit.

Dogs track Marine to trucker lot

    http://www.sun-herald.com/CHNewsstor...r=NewsArchive2

A bloodhound tracking a disabled former Marine who disappeared from his aunt's Deep Creek home 12 days ago led his handler to an area where tractor-trailer trucks park behind a Port Charlotte gas station Wednesday night.

Mike Bodah, executive director of the Southwest Florida K-9 Search Unit, said Eric W. Hall, 24, could have caught a ride with a trucker and left the area. "The dogs can see things we can't," he said.

After bloodhound George tracked Hall's scent to a truck parking area behind the Shell Station, the team put two other dogs, bloodhound, Clark, and yellow lab, Hutch, on the trail consecutively, and they seemed to confirm the results.

All three stopped between two semis behind the gas station, Bodah said. The trucks had their engines idling as if that were a place they could park to rest, he said.

"So, what we can say is that the track ends there at this point in time," he said. "Does that mean that he got into a semi truck? I can't answer that question. But we have advised the family it would perhaps be wise to put fliers out at truck stops."
