AZ - Phoenix, Human skull in bucket, Feb'08 - Aniseto Perez

PHOENIX -- A person out walking on a dirt road in southwest Phoenix Saturday morning found a human skull in a bucket, police said.

Sgt. Andy Hill said the bucket was found next to a large power pole alongside a cotton field near 79th Avenue and Roosevelt Street.

The resident notified a police officer who secured the scene.

Hill said detectives consider the case an obvious homicide.

Oh no, it almost sounds like the bucket was planted there. Like the BTK used to do with cereal boxes and dolls, etc.

ETA (I would hope they could tell right away whether it was a skull used for medical studies, etc. and not just something put there for a joke.)

What a horrible thing to find while walking your dog!! OMG! I can't imagine.

It will be interesting to see what plays out on this case. I wonder if someone found it elsewhere and didn't want to be associated...so they put it in a bucket for someone else to find. There are a lot of people who would rather not get involved in a murder case. I will be surprised if they find it was the perp who did this.

This man was found in a desert area near 91st Avenue and Baseline. Related information is case 08-1067. They are the same individual.
Not sure how they figured out it's the same individual if the DNA is insufficient for analysis. I'm also wondering why the 07 case says all parts were recovered if his skull was found elsewhere later.

"Skull in a Bucket" - sounds like the worst fast food concept ever.

Whoever's skull this was, it sounds like a horrible and undignified death and they have my sympathies. I sincerely hope that the killer(s) are caught and punished.
