A search party will be held Saturday by the friends and family of Benjamin Malvin Roseland.

Roseland, 19, 1921 Pershing Blvd., was reported missing on Feb. 9 after leaving the 400 block of 10th Avenue South to head to Hy-Vee. He never made it to Hy-Vee and has not been seen since.

Roseland is described by officials as a white male, standing 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen in camouflage overalls.

The search party will begin at 11:15 a.m. at the Hy-Vee parking lot. His loved ones are asking anyone in the community to join them in searching the eastern side near the river bank. Though the group is waiting on permission of the owners, they also hope to search abandoned buildings south of Hy-Vee.

The Hy-Vee parking lot will serve as the command center where all volunteers should sign in. Those with cell phones will be asked to list their numbers in order to keep in contact with the other volunteers.

Once the search begins, volunteers will break into groups of three. Some members of the Clinton Police Department will be joining in the search which will continue all day.

CLINTON — A search party made up of friends and family of Benjamin M. Roseland, who has been missing since Feb. 9, discovered two shoes believed to be his but he has not yet been found.

The search began at 11:45 a.m. Saturday with a large group of volunteers sifting through the area east and south of the location where he was last seen.

Roseland, 19, 1921 Pershing Blvd., was reported missing after leaving the 400 block of 10th Avenue South to head to Hy-Vee. He never made it to Hy-Vee and has not been seen since. He is descri-bed by officials as a white male, standing 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Roseland was last seen in camouflage overalls.

At 11:38 a.m. Saturday, a shoe was found sitting in a vacant yard at the corner of 13th Avenue South and Third Street. A short time later, searchers located a second shoe on top of a snow bank on the east side of the street at 13th Avenue South and Second Street. Roseland’s mother stated that he wore a pair of shoes similar in make, color, style and shoe size.

A more intense search was then conducted east of the area of 13th Avenue South and Second Street involving officers from the Clinton Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol and the Clinton Fire Department. The Eko-Sar K-9 Search and Rescue team was also activated to assist in the search. ADM security also assisted in a check of their property.

A MedForce helicopter pilot and a Clinton police officer flew above the area east and south of where Roseland was last seen.

An attempt to put the Clinton Fire Department rescue boat in the water at the Fifth Street boat ramp was unsuccessful due to surface conditions.

No additional items were found by searchers in the area. Roseland was not located and continues to be listed as a missing person.

If any person has information about Roseland, they are asked to contact the Clinton Police Department at 243-1458.

Good, finally a picture can be seen on the website. It's ashame the media didn't have one for everyone to see. Especially those close to home.

It's an anniversary one family in Clinton, Iowa would rather not have, Benjamin Roseland disappeared two years ago on Tuesday.

Police say Ben left his house to walk across the street to Hy–Vee.

He never made it to the store and hasn't been heard of or seen since.

But despite the case going cold, his family continues to fight for answers.

Police say if you have any information about Ben Roesland's disappearance, you can call the Clinton Police Department or Crimestoppers.

You can also e–mail a tip to info@benroseland.com.

Ben will have been missing four years next month. I wish some of you super sleuthers could come up with some answers. I find this case so puzzling.

Does anyone have a map of the area with where his friend's house is, the store, his house and where his shoes were found?

Also, who was the friend who last saw him? Sorry, gotta start there, and missed it if it had been mentioned. Who is the friend? Who else was at house and saw him leave for the store? Was he seen on any cameras on the way to the store?

The focus on Iowa and Davenport, IA for a current case (Jared Hickle) reminds me of Ben's case. It will soon be FIVE years with no resolution in his case.

I grew up near Clinton, IA, and this case has never left my mind. Perhaps we can get a fresh look at it?

Oddly... today is Ben's 24th birthday. Come on sleuthers.... especially those of you in that area... let's work on this one again.

Could he have been hit by a car and the person driving panicked and deposited his body somewhere else? I have seen where people get hit pretty hard that their shoes come off. Just wondering.

I think something like that could have definitely happened. Still no answers after more than 5.5 years now...
