TN - Dad Charged After Daughter Rides Tricycle In Traffic
JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. — Police say a man has been charged with child neglect for allegedly falling asleep and allowing his unattended 4-year-old daughter to ride her tricycle in traffic.
Twenty-five-year-old William L. Shogren, of Jonesborough, was arrested on the charge and later released on a $25,000 bond.
Police say they received a call Thursday morning from someone who spotted the girl riding on a road about a half mile from her home. The road is not a main arterial, but there was traffic when the girl was found.

Way to go, dad. Kids a half mile from home on a little bike in the middle of the street. People don't care about these kids.

He shouldn't have fallen asleep - and they should have a child proof lock - and there's a lot of should haves. But kids get around things (I could show you the picture from today's adventure here, an empty storage box, with a laundry basket on top, and an empty 5 gallon water bottle on top of the laundry, used to shimmy up the refrigerator to check for cookies before I was awake this morning....if she'd have fallen, she'd be really hurt, so I know what it's like to have a kid who wants it NOW ). We don't know the hours he works, or anything else, just that the kid slipped out unnoticed.
I'm so glad she's ok, and no one took her, and she wasn't hurt by traffic.
I think falling asleep while your kid is in another room, is entirely different than the idiots who put their kid in the truck while they went to get drunk.
just my two cents...
