I'm only posting this to ask you keep him and his family in your prayers.
Before anybody goes there---he is NOT an illegal nor an anchor baby, as the article says he is a San Antonio native.
What is an anchor baby? I've never heard the term. Will pray.

Anchor baby means "The mother gave birth to the kid either on a US state's land/a US Territory, or at sea (in United States of America) waters, thus making them a citizen." Thoughts and prayers sent. I hope he pulls through ok.

ETA: People born in Puerto Rico are considered United States Citizens, even though Puerto Rico isn't yet a state. It is a USA territory.

Anchor baby is the term used for a child born in the US to illegal immigrants.

Thank you for the prayer.

This makes me think of Selena, even though she was murdered. She was also a Tejano singer and was born in the US, in Corpus Christi. Prayers for Emilio and his family.

I thought of the same thing! ..

Emilio used to perform with Selena.

The one this really reminds me of is the crash Gloria Estefan had with her tour bus. It was in my state and it was stunning. She worked very hard to come back.

Gloria had a tour bus accident?
I recall that terrible boat accident..

I recall that terrible boat accident..

It was near fatal, in the Pocono Mts. of Pennsylvania in 1990, a truck hit her tour bus on a slick highway, she was stretched out on a sofa sleeping, bad vertebrae break. This song is about her road back and how much her husband helped her:

I didn't know about the boat accident.

I know a lot of Mexican people who are really saddened over this. I hope he pulls through. I also don't think it should matter if he is illegal or an anchor baby, we should pray for him and his family no matter what.

I drive by that exchange twice a day going to and from work. It's baaaaaaad even when you are sober and in a small car much less MAYBE drunk and in a a big bus. Prayers for him family, friends and fans.

You are absolutely correct. Unfortunately, not so much on this board, but alot of times (as in The Tennessean) one only needs to hear a hispanic sounding surname and they go there. (as in "he shouldn't have been in this country in the first place.") I was only trying to head that off.
I have not heard of any updated news. The Houston Chronicle had this posted a little while ago.

But I think it's the same info I posted earlier.
All we can do now is pray.

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Grammy-winning Tejano music star Emilio Navaira may not survive severe brain injuries from a Sunday morning bus crash, the neurosurgeon overseeing his treatment said on Monday.

A prayer vigil in Houston Monday night for Tejano music star Emilio Navaira drew about 70 people, many who wiped away tears as they prayed for the singer critically injured when the tour bus he was driving crashed early Sunday morning in southwest Houston.

In San Antonio, about 700 fans gathered in the south parking lot of the Alamodome for a prayer vigil in the singer's hometown.

They are going to slowly raise his body temp. today. It will take a few hours. They had lowered it to 91.6 degrees.

Thanks for clearing that up. Being Mexican, we are really feeling the heat of the whole immigration thing. I have never felt prejudice in my whole 27 years until now. My father was evening saying yesterday you can see in the way people look at you when you walk into a place. I just wish the hate and lies about illegal immigrants would stop spreading so my children don't ever have to feel prejudice in the United States. Also I guess I am what you call an anchor baby as my father came here illegally, my mother US citizen. Also my children would be consider anchor babies as my DH came here illegaly and I am US citizen. I am not saying coming to this country illegally is right but I can undstand why it is done. I think most people would do the same thing for a chance at a better life and to send some money home to their parents. I will be praying for him that he recovers fully and his family. Selena was a great loss to all Mexican Americans and I hope another greater singer is not lost.

Selena was certainly a great loss to us. I'm certain had she not died she would have been the next Gloria Estefan. The anniversary of her death is this weekend, if I'm not mistaken it's the 15th anniversary. So I'm sure most of the Spanish speaking stations will have tributes (I've already seen one advertised on Univision for Sunday.)
Emilio is another great star for us. I suppose it could be said he's one of the top Tejano singers nowadays. In reading different articles the last two days, I had totally forgotten that he had made a crossover into country. I vaguely remember now seeing his videos on CMT. He is a very talented man. Also very generous in his hometown.
This is a myspace site dedicated to him and his family for well-wishers.

I will keep listening for word on his condition.
Thanks for the prayers.
