Dancing Bears Filmed in Wild

Grizzly bears are getting their groove on, and new hidden cameras are giving scientists a window into the secret lives of these dancing bears.
This is no circus act. Between 2005 and 2007, Kate Kendall of the U.S. Geological Survey and her colleagues took video footage of black and grizzly bears doing what looks like the go-go at their favorite "rub trees."
They also got film of bears lumbering beneath stretches of barbed wire used to snag hair samples.
The research is part of a larger study to estimate the population size and distribution of bears in northwestern Montana using genetic analyses of the bears' hair samples.
Scientists think bears shimmy their backs against trees in a kind of bump-and-grind to scratch hard-to-reach spots and to communicate their presence to other Ursus kin.

That is a cute video. Thanks for providing it.

That was so cute! Thank you

:) You're welcome! :)

I always call bears cute, too-lol. The other day, I saw a program on the Animal Planet about some bears that were raised since they were cubs by a guy and his wife.. Jennifer Aniston was the host of the program. OMGosh, they were so awesome! I just think bears are magnificent creatures...especially polar bears.

eta: this is the show I referenced above. If you can catch it, watch it:

Thanks, IdahoMom .. :)

I remember the program you referenced that Jennifer Anniston hosted. If I remember correctly .. both Brad & Jen were part of the series "Growing Up Grizzly". They are both avid conservationists & animal lovers. It was filmed during their marriage.

I can't remember if I saw the programs on Animal Planet, Nat. Geo or Discovery - as one of those 3 channels always seems to be tuned there on at least 1 TV here.

Amazing man & his family that *give their all* raising & training these magnificent grizzly bears. "Growing Up Grizzly" is well worth watching for anyone that loves animals! (Like me! lol)

Thanks for posting the "bear" link.

I love bears! :) We live near a National Forest & Wildlife Preserve so black bears coming in to our suburban neighborhood here in Central Fla is a common occurence. They're great fun to observe and have never attacked a human. They're mostly looking for unsecured garbage can lids, pet food left outside & bird feeders. A couple months ago - I had a Mom & her cub meandering around my back yard for a couple of hours. When several neighbors & a local TV crew appeared - they became frightened, climbed a large tree & spent the night there. They returned to the Park/Preserve on their own. :)
