Ok, I've set up a website.

This will be bear bones but once done you can put the information into your own excel program and use to help "bring them home"

http://gonemissing.freehostia.com/

This is the website I set up for sharing.

What I need are people who are willing to take one (1) year of the Charley project cases and put them into an excel spread sheet and share them.

The information needs to be in this order too please.

surname, first name, date missing, race, sex, hair color, eye color, height, weight, birthday, state, other information.

if you go to By the year page you'll see what I'm saying.

once done anyone should be able to copy and paste the information into their own excel spreadsheet and search much easier.

If you pick a year to do, please post here which year your working on.

If you can be patient with me, I'll help. The next week or two will be pretty busy, but after that, I can devote more time to a project like this. I hate not having the time I want to have to help with cases. Blah.

Yes, I will try to help, but it will be scant at times. Are there more important years you want done first?

Ditto for me. I work full time, etc. But I'm willing to help out in any way I can to bring missing people home where they belong.

Let me know what year or years you want me to do.

If you want to do one of the older years, there are fewer people on the list there.
As you get into the 80's the number of missing people raise quickly.

Thank you.

How about one of the older years. There are fewer posting for them.

I'm currently up to Mar 2000 in the year 2000. I'm hoping to post what I currently have here soon just to get the ball rolling.

I don't want to sound disappointing but I'm concerned once you'll have that it won't help you more than the search systems already in place. With that what you'll get is obvious PMs and people always jump on obvious PMs. Take 222umky, as soon as the missing showed up on txdps LE got the match. It was the same with Stephanie Sempell or Crystal Clah... and others. So just to save you some time, this kind of work would take really a lot of time and personally I don't have any problem with the Doe Network, the NAMPN or The Charley Project search systems though a search box would be cool but she can't and there's always Google search. Namus was supposed to be more practical than the DN but I don't find it more practical in fact.

What search systems are already in place? I asked about it in another posting and no one answered it at all.

I am very new at this so I was trying to help make it easier for people to try an id found people with missing people.

I do understand that namus is going to be up and running but its still a year away or longer depending on what you read about it.

For Namus I meant UIDs only. Their missing person site will probably be just another NCMA. When I see how the UID stuff is going I doubt it'd be much greater for missing. That's a pity but they are far from then 10% of the actual number of UIDs in US. I guess they should not invite coroners to post their cases but make it an obligation.

I mean search box and indexes for search system.

When I look for a PM, I take a UID, and then if the time frame matches I look on the DN all those whose date of disap and place matches. That's not so many people. If on NAMPN I look at dates or then I go on Charley for geographical matches. There aren't that many people who will be found far from home and years after and if so then to bother to contact LE I think there has to be sthg strong that leads me to believe they could be the same, pin, tattoo and then if the UID has that I just type pin or the kind of tattoo in the search box.

I mean it is interesting but the thing is, most of the matches to be made with obvious things have already been made. Beside some have already made DBs with things like tattoos, pins...

Take 222umky, I read there were even two people who jumped on it and at least officially but I can bet they were about 20, just the quicklier got the credit. There are tons of people who have spent their days for years looking for a match and they haven't missed the kind of PMs this kind of DB would enhance.

That's one of those things that made me tired/sick of looking for PMs I swear, "jump" is not a small word. Some people seem to be in a contest and really screen all the newly added cases on websites just to be the first to make a match. I myself feel like there are many more useful things to do than do that most of all when there are already thousand people doing that.

Well I mean, I just know how much time it takes to do sthg like you do. It's a lot of work, and I just don't want you to kind of lose your time.
I'm working myself on updating a file I have with FDLE cases that are rather unsearchable and yes I know it's a lot of work.

I'll take 1980 to start with. Is that OK by you?
