SHAWNEE — A human skull and bones found April 7 in rural Pottawatomie County belong to a Hispanic or American Indian man, authorities said today.

Pottawatomie County Sheriff's deputy Jim Patten said the skull and bones were examined this week by forensic expert Dr. Clyde Snow in Oklahoma City. Along with narrowing down the race, Snow's preliminary determination is that the man was 17 to 23 years old and died within the past five years, Patten said.
Authorities are seeking information about missing men who fit that description.
David Ridley found the remains on his 320 acres near Earlsboro while searching for mushrooms.
 
It does give us something to go on at least. I will spend some time this weekend going over this one and trying to come up with some possible matches.
 
If talequah is near tecumsah.. then there are a few that could be possible matches on charley project.
 
In 2001, Dustin James Bench, at age 22, went missing from Tecumseh. Seven years later in 2008, a skull and other bones were found in Earlsboro and were positively identified as Bench through DNA in 2009, allowing his family to hold funeral services and give him a final resting place.

Now, 10 years after he first disappeared, what happened to him remains a mystery. His death, an open homicide investigation, remains an unsolved cold case.

Wow, his poor family. But his sister summed it up perfectly (to me) by saying "it's a way of knowing not to keep looking". :(

I'm happy to hear that his cats-eye ring was returned to the family...a rather priceless heirloom now (sentimentally).
