Another day care center putting children's lives at risk
When Mothercare Day Care hired 21-year-old Raeshala Morris on March 31, they didn't know she had a record of child neglect, that she was schizophrenic, or that she was living on the streets.
But a routine background check would have at least revealed her CPS record, which led social workers to put her 2-year-old daughter in foster care three months ago, officials say.
And Morris' family members could have told them she had stopped taking medication for the illness that had forced them to commit her to mental institutions in the past.
The day care center hired her without checking, state officials said Monday. The oversight led to the Friday afternoon abduction of 21-month-old Jakaila Brantley. (more at link)
Close the daycare center down now. There is absolutely no excuse for this.

Another wow moment. Homeless and mentally ill and nobody noticed this? Licensed for 40 some children and only 12 or so there when this lady walked out with this baby? Nobody noticed this? Wow.
