This poor family

LUTZ -- Sheriff's investigators are interviewing a man found hiding in a Lutz mobile home where a mother and her two young children were murdered, according to sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter.
The 26-year-old woman and her children, a girl about to turn 3 years old and a 7-year-old boy, as well as the family's dog were found this morning in the mobile home at 1918 S Mobile Villa Drive, Carter said.
Their identities have not been released, but Sheriff David Gee said the scene inside the home is one of terrible violence.
It was an "extremely gruesome scene," Gee said. "There was evidence that a lot of violence occurred inside."
Names of the victims have not been released.
After the bodies were discovered, deputies had to wait for a search warrant to re-enter the home to process evidence, Carter said. A judge had to grant permission for the deputies to continue their criminal investigation because the home owner could not give consent for the search, she said.

A woman, two small children, and the family dog were found dead at a mobile home park in Lutz Monday morning.According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the bodies of a 26-year-old woman and her two children, a 7-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl, were discovered in a mobile home at park on Mobile Villa Drive near Bearss Avenue.
The sheriff's office said the woman's mother discovered the bodies.
More Information

A man known to the family was found hiding in a closet in the home, according to officials, who were called to the scene around 10:30 a.m. Officials are not saying if that person is a suspect or a survivor.
The man was taken to University Community Hospital for an evaluation.
Authorities did not identify any of the victims or release how they died.
Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee said authorities may know who is responsible, adding that information gathered at the scene points towards someone who knew the family.

It sounds like the man in the closet may be a POI. I guess we will have to wait to hear what he has to say.

The woman's mother found her and her grandchildren! How horrible, my prayers for her and their family =(

The victims, according to neighbors, are Lisa Freiberg, 26, and her children, Zachary, 7, and Savannah, 2. The dog was a white German Shepard.

The mom had a live-in boyfriend, maybe the guy hiding in the house.

"Baum was smoking a cigarette about 5 p.m. Sunday when she saw Freiberg alone in her truck, heading home. Within five minutes, Baum said, she heard yelling and screaming and what sounded like something heavy being thrown inside the mobile home.
Baum said she stood on her picnic table to look over the fence but couldn't see inside the house. She said the screaming stopped before she finished her cigarette and that she didn't think about it again until she saw Freiberg's mother running out of the mobile home about 11:30 a.m. Monday, crying, "Oh, my God, my daughter's dead."

It sounds as if it were a domestic dispute gone deadly =(

""This is the most horrific crime scene I've ever seen," said Sheriff David Gee. "It's an extremely difficult crime scene to work."

"
A man was found hiding in one of the bedrooms of the victims' small home, and deputies were interviewing him, Gee said. It was unclear whether the unidentified man was the same person escorted into the hospital. Gee said the man is someone who might be known to the family.
"I can say that Hillsborough sheriff's deputies did transport a white male from the scene to the UCH emergency room," said hospital spokesman Will Darnall late this afternoon.
By 6 p.m., the man was still being evaluated, Darnall said. He was under guard.
When asked whether the man was a suspect or survivor, Gee said, "We're looking at everything right now."

So now i am wondering if it was a domestic dispute turned deadly or something other.. They say the man found hiding in the house is someone known to the family; yet it doesn't say if he is a boyfriend, a friend, or what.

Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee has confirmed that Lisa Freiberg, 26, was killed with her children, Zachary, 7, and Heather Savannah, 2, at her mobile home.

"The victims were mutilated; some were dismembered," Gee said at a news conference this afternoon. "At least one was decapitated." There was more than one weapon involved, he said.

Freiberg's mother forced her way into the home because it was locked.

The first deputy who arrived found a man, whom Gee identified as Freiberg's boyfriend, hiding in one of the children's closets. Gee said the man had pulled clothing over himself to conceal himself.
Gee said deputies took the man to University Community Hospital after he claimed to have ingested an unknown substance. The man is still at the hospital, Gee said.

Gee would not identify the man but said, "He is not a victim."

From Marie's link:
Covington lives at Freiberg's home address, according to his driver's license issued April 28.

He previously was arrested on an animal cruelty charge, but that case was not prosecuted. In January 2005, a 911 call led Tampa police to Covington's home. An officer asked Covington to come to the door, but he said he couldn't, a police report states.

The officer forced his way in and saw Covington face down on his living room floor, crying. "I don't want to die like this," he told the officer, according to the report.

Covington was Baker-Acted and taken to the emergency room at St. Joseph's Hospital, the report states.

Police saw three dead cats on Covington's kitchen floor.

"There was blood spatter all over the surfaces of the kitchen and in some areas throughout the residence," the report states. "The cats appeared mutilated and deformed. What appeared to be the cat's fecal matter had been deposited all over the kitchen floor. On the rim of the kitchen sink was a blood smear containing cat hair and a fair amount of blood surrounding the blood smear. It appeared the cat's head had been slammed into the sink fracturing the skull."

Ronnie Covington told police his son had been distraught after separating from his wife. He said his son suffers from manic depression and is bipolar.

Edward Allen Covington, 35, was charged three counts of first-degree murder, three counts of abuse of a dead human body and cruelty to animals, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

Decobo says it will be hard to determine the cause of death because the victim's bodies were so horribly mutilated. He says the scene was so horrible that you could not be anywhere inside the home without being exposed to blood.

Oh my Lord, this was so hard to read!! How terrible for that mother and the children! I can't even imagine the horror they went through.

And I'm sure those LE that were there will be having some nightmares for a long time!! Hopefully, they will all see a counselor to help them handle what they saw.

As far as the piece of scum, can't say anything. I believe in the TOS here and don't want to get banned.

But needless to say, he is SCUM!!

They need to fry this and quick. I don't care if he was Baker acted in the past. Perfect example of how we see sickos torturing and killing animals before they later move on to people. This should be a warning sign for anyone who starts out like that. This monster needs the death penalty, he should go with God!!

So they met on the internet? It's too bad she put her precious children in danger by letting some freak she met on the internet move into her house with her. I bet they didn't know eachother long. This guy was obviously a freaking WHACKO!! Plus a crack/coke head. Why the children??? SOB should have been locked up after he killed his cats! Obviously a complete FREAK.

Unbelievable!!!! He could get off after this horrific crime. What those children must have suffered at his hands is more than I want to imagine.

I don't usually encourage vigilante justice but this time I think I'd help!!!

Your tax dollars at work!

They weren't immediately certain if he was a victim or the perp or was dangerous to himself. Should the cops have taken him straight to interrogation, read him his rights & taken chance he would die from "a lot of pills"? And isn't it SOP at hospitals for someone under police guard to be listed as Doe?

There are too many reasons for this guy to be locked up forever. Anti-death penalty, bleeding heart defense attorneys should find another case to argue due process. ( One comment said to let the guy go home with the lawyers.... yeah, right.)
