I'm sick of this sick culture. :(

'Happy-slapping' video shows teenage girl being kicked in the face in playground attack

A terrifying "happy slapping" of a teenage girl has fuelled concerns over the rise in violent "ladette" culture.

Footage of the girl, believed to be 14, shows her being kicked and kneed in the face by another girl and then left in a bloodied heap on the ground after being battered 15 times.
It emerged today in a compilation of attacks allegedly filmed in and around Edenham High School in Croydon, which has been given a legal warning by government inspectors that it must improve.
The video film comes after national figures showed that girls aged 10 to 17 carried out more than 15,600 assaults and 1,000 muggings last year - or 45 violent attacks a day - according to the Youth Justice Board.

Lack of parenting is the root of these problems. Strong families is the answer. I feel like a freaking public service announcement but we have to change.

Floh, thank you posting this, though it absolutely sickens me. This subculture of twisted violence needs to stop!

It's been called 'Happy Slapping' in Britain for some years:

Happy Slapping is known to have started in South London, in particular the London Borough of Lewisham,[2][3] in a format known as "Slap TV", where a happy-slapping video would be recorded, and then watched over by dozens of people like a TV show. The first newspaper article to ever use the phrase 'happy slapping' was "Bullies film fights by phone", published in The Times Educational Supplement on January 21, 2005, in which reporter Michael Shaw described teachers' accounts of the craze in London schools.

This type of violence exists here as well although I don't know if it is exactly the same. It may be, but I don't know.

I agree with pixies that strong families are important in preventing this. I think that in some cases even when a child comes from a lifelong loving, stable home that a few will fall to this behavior. But, I believe most will not. It makes a huge difference in what direction in life young people choose depending on what they were raised with. I also think that our societal values also play a roll.

I had neighbors around the corner and through the woods ( I live in the middle of the woods, literally) that drank alcohol from the early AM on admittedly--every day. They would stop by and not once did I not see a beer in their hands. Once I carefully escorted the man off my property (walking--I would have turned him in if he had a vehicle with him) after he was so drunk he could barely walk and had peed in jeans to the point of dripping. He was unaware of what he was doing.

It was more than that. They had a total lack of what most would consider values. They hated all who were not, "white" and openly spoke about it as if that is the way all should and do feel and think. They thought nothing of it when their two sons would beat up, rob, or steal from others. They taught them well via there addictions and twisted values.

Their kids are criminals and may now be hardened criminals in the making. They are both in trouble with law and have been since they were juveniles. I think it is a crying shame, and that it didn't have to happen. Yet, now that it has it is up to them to change. Given what their belief system is I doubt it will ever happen.

This is just one example, but I knew these two when they were innocent children with a fighting chance to become good citizens who cared about others. There was nothing I believed I could do to help them although I tried.

I think if parents stopped hitting their kids, it would be a good start. I don't believe in spanking. If a parent hits their kid, its pretty difficult to tell that kid that its not okay and they shouldn't hit anyone else.

Yes, I saw a news special on it at least a year ago and that's what it was called. How pathetic that some kids have nothing better to do with their lives than abuse others.

I was raised in a generation where everyone spanked their kids and I've never battered another person. I don't personally believe there's a correlation between the two.
