I did a search and didn't find anything about Betty Neumar. She's suspected of killing five husbands over the past 50 years. There's not a lot of info yet but I did find this short article.

So far, Richmond County investigators have confirmed Betty Neumar was married at least five times. The first two husbands died in Ohio in the 1950's. Her first husband died in 1952, his death ruled suspicious. Then, two years later, her second husband was shot to death.
Then Betty married and moved to Florida, where husband number three was shot to death in 1965.
Fast forward two decades to North Carolina; husband number four, Harold Gentry, was found shot to death in 1986.
Betty then married her fifth husband John Neumar, and two more decades later, he was also dead.

Black Widow, she sure does lose a lot of husbands to shootings..

How sad for the fifth husbands children! I take it they are his children with his 1st wife and this woman did not even let them know he had died, they found out about it from reading the paper and she'd already had him creamated when he had bought a plot next to his first wife and wanted to be buried there. IMO this woman has to be pure evil.

Wow! I'd say she's guilty and I haven't even heard any evidence - no one can have THAT much bad luck!! This should be interesting.

This women needs to be in jail !!!!!!

A black widow for sure. Wonder how she got away with this for so long?

She should be in jail doing hard time. This is not a case of bad luck..:behindbar

Hi Vibec!

Here are some links to stories about Betty that have been in the local paper - the Augusta Chronicle; read the story at the last link for a strange 180:

Neumar was arrested last week in Augusta, Georgia and was extradited back to North Carolina to face charges. Neumar and Gentry lived in Norwood, North Carolina when he was killed. Gentry was found shot to death in July 1986.

Not a bad looking woman for 76 yo. Doesn't look like a serial killer, but I guess you just never can know people! Wow.

Wow! She looks like an old lady you'd see selling homemade pies at a church bazaar. You just can't judge a book by its cover.

That's how they get away with it, we'd run from the one's who are scary looking.

She looks mean as a snake though imo.

These kind of women are predators.

For two decades, Al Gentry begged investigators to take another look at the mystery of who killed his brother, Harold, and left his gunshot-ridden body sprawled on the floor of the home he shared with his wife.

He visited the sheriff's office dozens of times and made just as many phone calls. And when authorities finally listened, they wound up arresting the person Gentry had always suspected: his brother's now 76-year-old former wife, who was charged last month with hiring a hit man to gun him down.

"This is something I've been waiting for for a long time," Gentry said.

But Gentry's persistence may have led investigators to a far more chilling discovery about Betty Neumar.

Article includes some of the financial history.

This lady is creepy, but I couldn't help laughing about this since we were just talking on the Bizarre News forum about typos:

"We're at a loss for words," said John Neumar, Jr., son of Betty's fifth wife.

I thought they just started allowing same sex marriages this month.:waitasec: That's kind of a significant detail for an editor to miss.

Even Betty Neumar's family says she can't be trusted ...

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,381623,00.html

Betty Neumar's grandson was "spooked" when she bought a 100 grand life insurance policy for him ... and named herself the beneficiary.

This is a very interesting article ....

The below quote was very interesting...

(snip)
To the outside world, family members said, she was Bee — a friendly woman who operated beauty shops, attended church and raised money for charity.
But Carstensen saw another side: fist fights at family functions, use of obscenities and belittling of relatives, how she would act "one way in public — especially church — and another behind closed doors."

I noticed in the article linked above that they may look into her son's death as well.

Police in Ohio are looking into the death of Carstensen's stepfather, Neumar's son Gary Flynn, who was found shot to death in his apartment in November 1985. It was ruled a suicide, but his family has questions. A decision on whether to formally reopen the case is pending.

She had been out on $300K bond since her 2008 arrest.

so now the victims will never have justice ...
