This is so horrible. She should not be free on bond at all. That poor sister. She will probably not be able to sleep well for a long time. :(

Apparently this woman makes it a habit to drink and drive. :furious:

COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- The driver accused of killing a sleeping 14-year-old boy when she plowed her pickup truck into his bedroom has at least 2 DUI convictions among a history of five arrests, WSB-TV Channel 2 has learned.

Bond was raised to $100,000 on Monday for a woman accused of being drunk when she drove a pickup truck through a Powder Springs home early Sunday, killing a sleeping teenager.
Bond was initially set Sunday at $35,000 for Janette L. Eason, but it was nearly tripled Monday morning by Cobb County Chief Magistrate Frank Cox, Cobb sheriff's spokeswoman Nancy Bodiford said. Someone would have to put up $10,000 for Eason to be released from the county jail, where she was still being held Monday.
Bodiford gave no reason for the increase in bond and didn't say why the matter went to Cox for reconsideration.
But relatives of Elliot Savary, the 14-year-old killed when Eason's Ford F-250 plowed through his home, had protested the initial bond amount, which would have enabled Eason to leave jail with a $3,500 payment on her behalf."

fyi: this story is on nancy grace tonight

That is the strangest thing I have heard about for a long time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, until penalties against DUI/DWI cases get much stiffer (mandatory jail time even for a first offense), many of these "accidents" will continue to happen.

There was a guy here who killed a family of 4 in a DUI accident. He got life in prison, but it was learned that he'd been arrested over 20 times for DUI and didn't even have a valid license (as if that would stop a habitual drunk anyway).

I dont understand why people cant stay at home if they want to get drunk! I know where I live the cops are more worried about seat belt than DUI !

From May 2010:

A sobbing Janette L. Eason, 46, of Dallas begged for forgiveness Tuesday morning after admitting she was so drunk on the morning of June 8, 2008, that she crashed her truck into a Powder Springs house and killed a sleeping child.

Eason, who has been in in Cobb County Jail since her arrest, was sentenced to a total of 15 years by Cobb Superior Court Judge C. LaTain Kell. She was ordered to spend at least 12 years in prison... followed by three years of probation.
