IL - Mom Leaves Kids Home Alone To Find Beau

If you're Randi Losch's boyfriend out for an evening with the boys she will find you. She'll find you even if it means leaving the kids home alone.

The 27 year old Losch left her two daughter's ages 1 and 6 home alone while she went in search of her boyfriend who was at a bar. She found the boyfriend and told him the kids were with a sitter and then she fessed up. The boyfriend said she left and he assumed she went home. He got back home about a half hour later and no Losch. Someone called cops and I'm betting it was the boyfriend.

Cops found Losch about a half hour later in someone elses car. Then this chick decides to kick a cop in the ribs. Not smart. She's facing some serious charges, but got out on $2,000 bail. Story and mugshot at link.

Come on, give a single mom a break. They were sleeping! What's the problem?

I bet this isn't the first time she's done something like this. ARGH with stupid moms. ARGH.

It almost sounds like she went to find him to make sure he was busy while she went out with someone else. Or maybe I'm reading something into this that is not there.

    Those poor children deserve better.

No guy is worth leaving your children in harm's way. Whether they were sleeping in their beds or not. Fire, burglary or any other nasty thing could have happened not even counting a medical emergency.

Until and when people start taking responsibility for the vulnerable we are all in harm's way.

CP, I was being sarcastic up there. Just FYI.

My ex did that to me one night. I came home to an empty house and figured he and my dd were out somewhere until I heard her crying in her crib. He was out at a bar. ARGH

What a dummy. I hope they take the children from her and never give them back.

I knew you were messing around, TM

Oh no. No way. You must have had a fit. Well, at least he didn't take DD to the bar. Better yet he didn't come home plastered and decide to take her for a drive. My bio did that. Picked me up out of the crib rip roaring drunk and said he was taking me for a ride. Lucky my mom didn't have a firearm back then. Last time I ever saw the guy, and considering I wasn't one year old wouldn't know him if I tripped over him

This Losch chick made a huge mistake. She'll be in more trouble for kicking the cop.

Hopefully, this arrest will be this lady's "bottom" and she'll work to get her life on track.

What I find really sad is maximum penalty for leaving the children alone is one year - assault of the officer is maximum two to five years. Not saying its ok to assault an officer, but why does leaving children that age alone not carry a stiffer penalty.

The most serious charge against Losch, aggravated battery, is a felony punishable by a maximum two to five years in prison. The other charges are misdemeanors that carry a maximum sentence of one year in jail and $2,500 in fines.

Hi Busylady. I thought the same thing. However, I think it's because police officers face a higher occupational risk of injury and assault than other occupations. They are here to protect the law, and the public's safety.

Simply put when someone goes assaulting a cop you pretty much will figure they have no boundaries at all, and will do almost anything. I'm not here to play the good cop vs bad cop or anything, but they are in danger more than others. It's what I figured anyway.

our newest mother of the year candidate found & confronted boyfriend at 11. it took him 30 minutes to get home. if only half of that was driving time, she left the children alone at 10:45 & was found at 12:40 with someone in another car and obviously not headed home. so, the kids had been unsupervised about 2 hours.... but, did she find boyfriend at the first place she looked? the kids were possibly left alone for another hour or more & she was with someone whose driving caught attention of cops! .....and then, mother of the year candidate fights the cop. good thing boyfriend did return & find kids were alone..... the article doesn't say how long he had been at the bar & most likely drinking (many bar patrons do partake of spirited beverages while there) & how fit he was to supervise young children...... geez! as someone already stated, hopefully this will be a wake-up call for those 2.

I have to give some credit to the boyfriend here - we are usually seeing mom's bf in a bad light. This one apparently thought enough of these children to ask her where they were and call the cops on her when he found out she had left them alone.

Many people go out to the bar and only have a couple drinks so that they are okay to drive home and/or care for children once they get there. Not sure what closing time is in that area but seems like he was in a good enough state and cared enough to cut his evening short and check on the kids!

Taximom, when in doubt, put in your own <sarcasm> tags.

    For example:

    <sarcasm>This woman looks like a real winner.</sarcasm>

I think she is pointless and can be thrown away.

I agree, Busylady. the penalties for both crimes are not stiff enough, but a penalty when children are involved should be far higher anyway.
