    Drugs & Gangs

Because they are a small LE office, the OSBI is there to assist and will take care of the analysis of the bullets or other evidence.

Who thinks gangs are not yet in the smaller towns in Oklahoma? This was in our news today.

    Gang Activity Threatens Small Towns

Law enforcement agencies from around the state are in Oklahoma City all week to deal with the growing threat of gang violence.

News On 6 reporter Charles Bassett reports it is a threat even small rural areas are now facing.

Authorities say gangs are moving into these smaller communities for a variety of reasons, but mainly members know the resources aren't always there to fight them and they can operate at will.

I have just learned that there is such a thing as a roadside meth lab. The cookers drive to a remote location, sometimes a riverbed, and cook meth for a few hours then leave.

"Meth can be manufactured from the trunks of cars or from fully operational labs built in homes.

Rural areas are ideal for meth manufacturing because there is a lot of space and privacy to work in.

“People are finding wooded areas in the country to cook,” Dobratz said. Drug dealers can set up a lab in local riverbeds, and concealed by the woods, can cook up an ounce of meth in six to eight hours. "

We're having roadside meth incidents and the latest one involved the group camped out in the woods with tents. Huge group of methers. F&W discovered them.

When I lived in Oklahoma, a lot of Native American families outside the OKC area lived in very poor conditions. They used kerosense for heat and light. Considering that the tribes were cheated out of their land east of the Mississippi River, and endured such a harsh journey to get to OK, might I say, on behalf of my part Native American daughter, that I'm glad to see Casino money go to the tribes.

I just posted on the poll thread that I had never heard of such a thing as this - now I have. It makes zero sense to me to go riding around, cooking this stinky stuff (and it STINKS) where people are going to smell it.

I still believe the area where Taylor & Skyla were killed is too frequented by locals to be an ideal place for a "mobile meth lab", if for no other reason than the smell attracting too much attention. But hey, what do I know? I didn't think this kind of thing existed at all!

Very, very strong chemical smell. It's very distinct. I can't think of anything to compare it to, but it almost takes your breath away.

Can it be smelled outside in the air or mainly inside if someone is cooking it indoors in a closed up house?

It can be smelled outside in the air. You will hear sometimes of neighbors reporting a horrible smell if the wind is blowing just right, and houses sometimes get busted simply because someone reported a strange odor.

To my knowledge there was no report of such a smell around the time the girls were killed.

Hadn't thought about that - but it does most definitely have the same "take your breath away" quality to it.

I posted this in 'off topic' so I thought I would move it over here where I should of posted it in the first place. Sorry about that.

    How does methamphetamine work?
Methamphetamine releases high levels of dopamine in the brain, a neurotransmitter that is associated with pleasurable or rewarding experiences.
After it is taken in oral form, the user experiences increased wakefulness and physical activity, and decreased appetite. For some patients, even low doses can be addictive.
With higher doses of methamphetamine, especially if it is smoked or injected, the user immediately experiences an intense "rush" (also called a "flash") that causes intense pleasure but only lasts a few minutes. Users can become addicted and dependent quickly, needing more and higher doses as the addiction progresses.
In high doses, methamphetamine causes irritability, insomnia, confusion, hallucinations, anxiety, paranoia and increased aggression. In even higher doses, hypothermia and convulsions can cause death

Graphic photos of meth users. Gruesome, please only look if you want to see what happens to your skin after some time using meth.

I havent seen anything indicating there was a smell reported either, was just answering the question of if it can be smelled in the outside air even if the cooking is done in a enclosed house.
