CO - Rosanna Martinez, 45, Fort Collins, 19 July 2008
21 July 08
An intensive manhunt is underway today for a self-described outdoorsman who police say kidnapped a former girlfriend at gunpoint late Saturday as she left work in Fort Collins.
Police are searching for Travis John Kness, 32, of Loveland, a man with a lengthy criminal record who goes by the nickname "Caveman."
Davis said that at about 10 p.m. Saturday, Kness drove up to the Dollar Tree store at 2721 S. College Ave. in Fort Collins. There, said Davis, Kness approached a car carrying two Dollar Tree employees, including his ex-girlfriend, 45-year-old Rosanna Martinez.
He pointed a handgun at them and then fired a shot into the air.
"She (Martinez) recognized Mr. Kness, and she voluntarily got out of the car," said Davis. "Then he forced her into his vehicle."
The other employee of the Dollar Store was able to escape and call 911.
Kness was last seen leaving the area with Martinez in a late 1990s white Jeep Cherokee with Colorado license plate FHX-5828.
Kness is 5-foot-7 and weighs 170 pounds. He has long brown hair past his shoulders.
Anyone with information about the location of the vehicle or Kness and Martinez should call Fort Collins police at 970-221-6540.

I'm surprised at this guy being so much younger than her and being that madly in love with the woman that he wants to do this. Usually guys want YOUNGER women!

found July 27th, safe
I just looked this woman up to see if she had been found- the ex who kidnapped her dropped her off unharmed at his parents house on July 27th, about a week after kidnapping her and was arrested the next day.
Apparently he is not on the right medication dosage for his bipolar disorder, or is not taking it at all? Thank goodness he brought her back safely. First article has interview w/suspects mom, second has some quotes from the kidnapper.

I'm so glad Rosanna was found. I'm glad the suspect didn't hurt her and hopefully he'll get back on his meds.
