Searchers looking for a Mountain Iron man missing near Virginia found a man’s body Thursday morning.

But authorities don’t believe the body is that of Dustin Damm – the man they were looking for.

The body, which hasn’t been identified, was that of a man approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 175 to 185 pounds, with dark brown shoulder length hair, a small scar on the forehead, a scar on the left chin, a tattoo on the right wrist and missing the tip of the left index finger.

Damm, 28, is 6 feet tall, weighs 150 pounds, and has brown eyes and a shaved head. He suffers from mental illness. He was last seen in Virginia Tuesday morning. His vehicle was located near the Rouchleau Pit on Wednesday. Members of the St Louis County Volunteer Rescue Squad searched throughout night for Damm. They found the unidentified body around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities won’t know the cause or time of death until after an autopsy is completed, Lt. Edward Kippley said.

Chief Dana Waldron of the Virginia Police Department said an autopsy on the unidentified body will be conducted Friday. He also said a search through missing person reports didn’t produce any leads as of this afternoon.

Anyone with information pertaining to either of these cases is asked to call the 911 Communications Center at (218) 749-6010.

Authorities are also asking residents of the city of Virginia to search their property for any sign Damm.

Brutal.

Have they determined how long Mr. Putrino was deceased at the time they located him? Also, how far apart was his body from where the body of Damm was found?
