TX - 5 children displaced by Hurricane Katrina
Amber Alert Issued for Katrina Victims
An Amber Alert has been issued for five children displaced by Hurricane Katrina who may have been moved from Houston to the Dallas area.
Police said the children have been abducted by 44-year-old Rhonda Tavey. The Harris County district attorney's office has charged her with five felony counts of kidnapping.
The children are sisters Rod Keesa Alphonse, 8, Alaysa, 6, and Yasmine, 4; and their 3-year-old twin brothers, Eric and Erin.
The children and their mother, Erica Alphonse, have been living with Ms. Tavey since their displacement by Katrina, but for several weeks Ms. Tavey has refused to turn the children over to their mother.
