MA - Rapist gives out phone number, Tufts Rapist
Michael Mahoney was being dubbed the "Tufts Rapist".
Earlier this year Mahoney was brought to LE's attention after having a fight with his mother and he bit her breast.
He is suspected in other sexual assaults and his sketch was all over the place alerting women and asking if anyone recognized him. Then Mahoney brutally raped a student. After terorrizing this poor girl Mahoney gave her his phone number as the victim pretended to want to get together again with him for more assault, and horrendous crimes against her. Bless her for trying because this dude gave her his number and she went straight to the police. Gave his real number to his victim.

In any event, what you describe is more common than one would think. One category of rapist definitely convinces himself that a courtship of sorts is going on and that the girl truly desires the sexual contact he forces on her. Fascinating. This book said that a fair few are caught when they do things like this - give names, numbers, other identifying info - because they get caught up in their (misguided, of course) romantic fantasy of what they are doing. Yikes.
What is interesting to me is that the book said this "type" of rapist is the least likely to kill - they usually aren't murdering sexual sadists. The guy in this story definitely had some kinky (perhaps sadistic) sexual fantasies and proclivities but if he had been a true sexual sadist, the girl wouldn't have lived to tell the tale.
She's one sharp cookie, though - praises to her for helping to get this man off the streets. I hope her empowerment will help in her healing process from the attack.I do not intend to tiptoe through life only to arrive safely at death!

I admire this girl for her quick thinking....it saved her life, most likely.
I often think if I was in the same situation I'd do the same....pretend some instance just to get away....
One instance (and I mean NO disrespect) I tend to place myself in is the situation of Kristen French VS Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka....Had I of been Kristen (I think) I'd have faked it and would pretend to lure other "virgins" to them, just to live...Of course I am much older than Kristin...NOT blaming her in ANY way...if I were her age, would I have done the same? Probably....
But thinking as an adult...yeah I'd have been like "I have ALOT more virgin friends" you may like....etc...I say that, but WHO ultimately knows how I'd have reacted?
I can think all day long how I would react but I guess you NEVER really know 'till you're faced with it. I ALWAYS think I can find a way to get away from these peeps...but thats just me...if I were facing REAL LIFE I'd understand how slim that chance was.

Hurrah for that girls quick thinking! Faced with being raped she still was able to think of a way to find him, and was able to convince him of her sincerity in wanting his number. Good for her and I hope that helps to carry her through the bad places.

The thing that creeped me out alot is this guy bit how own mother's breast.
Lord knows what that is about. I wonder how we could profile that? Profiling is very interesting though. I'm very glad this poor lady had her wits about her. May she recover and be able to live her life without fear.

On another note, when I opened the link to this story, I couldn't help but laugh. I had seen that news screenshot elsewhere weeks ago, someone was making fun of how the newscaster looked alot like that sketch. There is always HOPE!!!
