Utah couple on low-carb kick booted from buffet for scarfing too much meat

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Utah couple on a low-carb diet were kicked out of a buffet restaurant after the manager said they'd eaten too much roast beef.

Sui Amaama, who along with his wife have been on the Atkins Diet for two weeks, was asked to leave after he went up to the buffet at the Chuck-A-Rama in suburban Taylorsville for his 12th slice of roast beef.

"It's so embarrassing actually," said Isabelle Leota, Amaama's wife.

"We went in to have dinner, we were under the impression Chuck-A-Rama was an all-you-can-eat establishment."

Not so, said Jack Johanson, the restaurant chain's district manager.

"We've never claimed to be an all-you-can-eat establishment," said Johanson.

"Our understanding is a buffet is just a style of eating."

Utah restaurant apologizes to beef-loving couple barred from buffet

Utah restaurant apologizes to beef-loving couple barred from buffet

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Chuck-A-Rama said it's still not an all-you-can-eat establishment but the restaurant chain is serving up an apology to a low-carb Utah couple cut off from eating beef after making one too many trips to the buffet.

Chuck-A-Rama officials made the public apology Thursday to Isabelle Leota, 29, and her husband, Sui Amaama, 26, who dined at a Chuck-A-Rama in suburban Taylorsville on April 20. The eatery's general manager told Amaama he was cut off from the roast beef when he went up for his 12th slice. When the couple refused to leave until they were given their money back, the manager called police and had them escorted out.

Leota said they were on the low-carb Atkins Diet and ate at that location at least twice a week because of its convenience.

The West Valley City couple said they had been embarrassed and treated unfairly and argued the buffet was all-you-can-eat.

Despite the apology, Moss reiterated buffet-style means self-service, not all-you-can-eat. He added the company is "in the process of defining a system by which we can communicate this difference to our customers, so our buffet-style dining is better understood."

WOW how can anyone eat 12 peices of Roastbeef? Maybe the weightloss is in how many calories it takes to digest that much meat. I can hear is arteries hardening and his colon screaming for mercy all the way in Ga.

I don't think those people were doing that diet right. You're not supposed to eat yourself silly with beef!!! On a lighter note, I don't think I could eat at a restaurant called Chuck-A-Rama.
