I'd like to find out who here is working on this case and is comfy with contacting authorities, etc...I think some of you may already be in some communication. We should know this and make sure non of us are stepping on toes or redoing the same work. Also, it's great to get people set up in a case and they can build a relationship with the authorities...they hold info that can help us and we want them on our side.

Sooo.

If you are in contact with anyone in authority on this case, please post here. If you are willing to take on the work and 'represent', post here and then we can have just a few doing these most important communications.

Thoughts?

Hi Christine,

I emailed the Virginia Medical Examiner to submit the possible match of Grateful Dead Fan to Missing Daniel Nicholas Sheppard of Australia. The VME is trying to contact the Australian Federal police to obtain fingerprints from the file of Daniel Sheppard. They have not heard back from the AFP and are looking for a way to get said fingerprints.

I had emailed the tip to the AFP originally.

I emailed the contact info for the AFP and their missing persons registry to the VME and hope that the VME can try again to obtain info on missing Daniel Sheppard.

I also asked the VME if they have the phone number that was found on GDF with the 914 prefix for fellow websleuther fmw63 and will post that info as it comes back.

Patience

The Viriginia Medical Examiner is unable to get a hold of the Australian Federal Police as the phone number is not working. They certainly seem persistant though. Here is the latest email I received from them which was today. If anyone knows of the Toll free number that works then please post it here. thanks in advance.

Hello xxxxx. We attempted to call the Australian Federal Police with the toll free number however the call will not go through because it is one number too short. Do you have another contact number for them? I am going to attempt to send an email to request information and hopefully that will go through. Please let us know if you find out anything else. Thanks!

TY you Patience!

This webpage has a list of #'s...have them pick one. They should (IIRC) dial 011 first then the #. http://www.afp.gov.au/contact.html

Toll-free numbers usually do not work for international calls.

Which number are they trying to call?

The Virginia Medical Examiner (Central) is trying to get a hold of the Australian Authorities, anyone who is handling the file of Daniel Nicholas Sheppard to see if he is a match to our Grateful Dead Fan. I find in quite of few cold cases, the contact info is outdated and this case tells us that we need more communication in dealing with missing and unidentified world wide.

Hi, Patience.

You are right.

In this case, though, I believe the information is up-to-date, but they would need to use the numbers which are listed other than the toll-free number.

Maybe we could start a thread dedicated to world-wide information?

Thank you but I am only a small part trying to carry on what all of you have been trying to do for so very long, which is to find a name for our GDF and to send him home to his family. Dear Fmw63, I still have not received any info on the phone number. I wonder if the Medical Examiner is stalling on giving out that info to us due to the fact that they are concentrating on the Daniel Sheppard lead? I will post the info as soon as I hear anything. Both GDF and Daniel Nicholas Sheppard have fingerprints on file so how long is this going to take?I sure wish I had some patience.

Has anyone tried to find and join any Grateful Dead forums and fan sites and post his picture there?? I'm not familiar with Craig's List, but couldn't people also post ads there with a catchy headline like, "Grateful Dead Fans from 1995" - and the post could ask if anyone recognizes this young man. List the description, etc, and hope for replies.

Sorry for the double post, but this morning I decided to start making a graphic for our GDF and I don't know who to put for the contact in case anyone has any information about him. I am going to join a bunch of Grateful Dead forums and post the graphic there in hopes that some other fans from the 90's are still fans and remember him.

If anyone can let me know who to put for the contact information, I'd appreciate it.

Made a graphic - anyone is free to save it and pass it around to other places on the net in hopes that someone will recognize him.

Hmmm... with the 5-point star, maybe he was a Rush fan, too?

Nice job, SieSie. Thanks.

Thanks, KivaSupporter!

I joined thedead.net and posted the information there. I also edited my profile there to provide some of the details and links to the Doe Network. Will try to join some other forums soon.
