Is FL sales tax 6%? If so, a single item purchase would've been $69.25.

Anyone know how to do a look-up for JCPenney to see if there's a single item @ this price?

I was having a difficult time finding items which fit that criterion.

I found the above link though.

I then tried looking it up for accuracy.

It appears that Orange County has a sales tax of 6.5%.

Maybe a WSer in the area could just check a receipt for us and double check the tax???

    Looks like 6%

<<Florida's general sales tax rate is 6%, however there is an established "bracket system" for collecting sales tax on any part of each total taxable sale that is less than a whole dollar amount. Additionally, a discretionary sales surtax is imposed by many Florida counties. >>

At 6.5% sales tax the item would cost $68.92

Item (s) would total $69.92 before the 6.5 sales tax in Orange county which you have correct. ETA, correction, $68.92.

Not that I wouldn't trust the omniscience of "ask Yahoo" and the other places my search took me.

But I have the Orange County site and that indicates that the local option added in is .5, so that it would be 6.5.

I am just assuming the JCP is in Orange County. Is this correct.
    Thanks.

That's an odd price. To me it say's probably a clearance or sale item. I think JCP does mark downs at 25% & 50%. What do stores mark for sale or clearance in June-July? Things that come to mind are items people want for the summer, esp July 4, swim suits, pation furniture, grills, LUGGAGE. JCP sells a wide price range of luggage, the 68.92 sounds about right for a markdown price of a large rolling suitcase.

If this is the Fashion Square Mall JCP then it is in Orange County. Seminole and Volusia are also 6.5% sales tax. No link handy, but remember reading somewhere in last couple of days that it was from the Fashion Square Mall, which is on 50 (Colonial Drive) approaching downtown Orlando.

6/30 JCP at Fashion Square, 6:10 p.m. according to LA's handwritten receipt.

I don't shop JCP that often but a lot of stores price items so that the final price with tax comes to an even amount. Walmart for example does it.
