FL - Margo Register, 19, Crystal River, 4 January 1994

hi everyone. a while back there was a case i read about on the charley project that intrigued me. it was a young african-american woman who disappeared from a car while her boyfriend/fiance/husband went into a store (or something along those lines .. i can't remember exact details). i believe this was in the early 80s, though i could be wrong. i do remember that the woman had a history of psychiatric illness.

anyways, i went back on the charley project and searched with everything imaginable to find this case again and i can't find it! was it solved? if anyone knows anything about what i'm talking about, i would greatly, greatly appreciate it!

I could find no update but it sounds like her husband (who is in prison for killing another person) had something to do with her vanishing.

    I will keep looking.

Register said he had tried to dump Margo and he figured the only way to make her leave him was to crush her self-esteem. He said on that day outside the store, he attacked Margo with a barrage of verbal insults.

Citrus deputies follow lead in 1994 missing persons case

Detectives said they are searching a piece of land in Crystal River after receiving a new lead in a 20-year-old cold case.

Margo Register, 19, was last seen on Jan. 4, 1994 in Crystal River. According to the Citrus County Sheriff's office, Register and her husband, Willis, left their apartment after a day in which the couple had argued repeatedly.

The Citrus County Sheriff’s office began searching Monday for a body that has been missing for 20 years. However, as of Friday evening, the search had proved unfruitful...

Yates said the tip, which was received some months ago, was from a source who claimed to have seen Register’s body...

She said the search has been demanding, with officers combing through a flooded and heavily wooded area tangled in tree roots.

Homosassa, Florida -- Citrus County detectives are working to identify remains found deep in the woods in Homosassa late Monday.
The sheriff's office says the bones were found in the woods off of S. Mason Creek Road and S Garcia Road. When deputies and detectives arrived at the scene, they confirmed that the discovered bones were in fact human remains.

Did the same search team that is currently looking for Register find these remains in Homosassa? Or was this discovery made in an unrelated manner? Another way of asking the same question would be...were these remains found on the same 1/2 acre that LE is searching to find Register?

Hopefully, a family who is missing a loved one will have answers soon.

I thought it probably was the same search until I read this.
Late yesterday, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office received a call reference bones being found deep in the woods off of S. Mason Creek Road and S Garcia Road in Homosassa. Lelland Nichols was the person who discovered the bones while walking through the wooded area. When deputies and detectives arrived on scene they were able to confirm that the discovered bones were in fact that of human remains. CCSO Forensics and detectives, along with the Medical Examiner’s Office, are working diligently to identify the remains and the circumstances behind them. It is too early to tell how old the person was at the time of death and whether or not this is a male or female. This area is being treated as a crime scene and investigators are expected to be working in this vicinity for several days. We will provide updates when they become available but at this time, we do not have any further details.
(These photos are a CCSO exclusive and were taken from behind the crime scene tape.)

Margo's NamUs case file has been published. Two details differ from Charley Project. NamUs has her middle name as Andrea, not Ann. And NamUs has her weight as 145 pounds, not 210.
