Mystic Dawn Salazar was born May 23, 2002. She has been raised primarily in my daughter Jennifer's home since she was born. Jenn and her husband Amie filed for custody of Mystic last year after her biological mother was jailed on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault. They had to locate and serve the biological father as well. This man has been aware that he had a daughter and has known where she was the entire time. He was tracked down by DHS and made to pay child support for more than a year before Jenn and Amie filed for custody, but had made no effort to see her or get to know her. After they filed, he also requested custody. In court my daughter and her husband produced dacumentation to show that they have been the primary caregivers and psychological parents of Mystic for most of her life. The judge ordered that she was to remain in their physical custody and granted Enrique Lopez visitation which was supposed to be supervised by a therapist was to oversee her introduction to her biological father. After only a couple of brief visits with Mystic in the therapists office, the therapist decied that Enrique could tqke her for seven hours at a time each week. Mystic responded by having nighmares, becoming agressive toward her siblings at home and other stress reactions, but the therapist refused to alter the schedule. On August 17, 2008, the day before Mystic was to begin first grade, Enrique took her for a visit at 10 AM and was to return her at 5:00 PM. She cried and clung to my daughter and begged not to go, but the court had ordered that he was to have his "rights" and Jenn was afraid they could lose custody all together if they did not comply. She pried her little girls arms from around her neck and put her into the arms of this stranger, promising to return for her in just a few hours. It was the last time she saw her. The Mesa County Sheriff says no crime was committed. The judge says yes, the custody order was in effect, but the police and DA refuse to recognize it. There is an "attempt to locate" poster out in Mystic's name, but if Enrique and/or his wife Melissa are stopped for any reason, there is nothing attached to their names to tell the police that the child with them was abducted. No one is looking for them.

If anyone out there has any experience in this area. If you know how to light a fire under these people and get them to look for my granddaughter, please help us

If you don't mind me asking, why 6 months?

Six months is the minimum time a person must be missing to go up on our site. It gives a limit to the cases one can work with and at the same time is not overly long.

    complicated & confusing custody case
    Submitted by Admin on 15 March, 2009 - 23:44.

Six year old Mystic Dawn Salazar was at the center of a complicated and confusing custody case when she was ripped from the only home she has ever known and the family who loves her and has raised her by a man who is a virtual stranger to her. The saddest part of this case, the family who loves Mystic and has taken care of her all her life is left with no answers and nowhere to turn. Law Enforcement has inactivated her case less then a month after she was taken and left the family to fight for Mystic alone.

Mystic’s biological father had been absent form her life. Mystic’s biological mother was sporadic with her involvement with Mystic after her release from parole when Mystic was about 2 years old. The only constant in Mystic life was her Daddy, Amie Salazar and her Mommy Jennifer Davis. Regardless of anything else, they took Mystic in and loved her and took care of her as their own from even before she was born. They were expecting a baby at the same time and Jennifer would drive Twalla Blacksher to and from her prenatal visits and parole meetings.

When Mystic was born, Jennifer drove Mystic’s big sister to the hospital to be with her sister. (Mystic and Alisha share a biological mother but have different biological fathers and Alisha’s father, Amie, has had sole custody of her since his divorce from Twalla in 1996) Over the course of 4 years Twalla signed numerous Power of Attorney’s to Jennifer and Amie granting them guardianship of Mystic while she ran around and did whatever it was she chose to do. In April of 2007, Twalla was arrested again and in jail in Denver, CO on charges of aggravated robbery with a simulated weapon. At that time Jennifer and Amie knew they had to do something to make it legal and permanent for Mystic to stay in their home….her home. They could not take a chance of having to send Mystic back to an unstable home with her biological mother who would disappear for weeks and months at a time. It was August of 2007, after a couple months of consideration and talking with others that they decided to file a petition for allocation of parental responsibilities for Mystic. Twalla was served in her jail cell in August 2007 and failed to file a response until January 2008. During a conference with the court facilitator, Jennifer and Amie were informed of the biological father’s name—Enrique Arreola-Lopez.

They were informed of a child support order that was in place for Mystic and that Enrique had been paying child support to Twalla for almost a year and a half while Mystic was living with Jennifer and Amie. During that time, Enrique never once tried to contact Mystic. He never asserted his parental rights until he was served with papers from Jennifer and Amie for “custody” of Mystic. At that time, Enrique decided he wanted FULL Parenting time and Decision making and wanted to take Mystic from her home and family and move her to Denver with him.
February 2008 the parties were in front of the Judge in Arapaho County and he left Mystic in her home with Jennifer and Amie. He recognized the couple as Mystic’s psychological parents and Enrique even had his attorney stipulate in court that Mystic was fully integrated into the couple’s family. Both Enrique and Twalla were given specific visitation. Twalla was allowed 2 hours over lunch and 2 hours over dinner at her discretion when Mystic was available. Twalla had to go to Mesa County and was not allowed any overnights. Enrique was granted SUPERVISED parenting time through THERPUETIC INTRODUCTION TIME. The counselor doing the introduction therapy spent a total of 4 ½ hrs with Enrique and Mystic over the course of 3 weeks before over riding the judge’s ruling and granting unsupervised time for Enrique.

July 16, 2008, Enrique’s attorney along with the attorney for Jennifer and Amie agreed on JOINT DECISION MAKING and that Mystic would be enrolled in school in Mesa County (4 hours away from where Enrique and his family lived). August 17, 2008, the day before school was to start for Mystic, she was to have a visit with Enrique.

The night before Mystic had a nightmare, she crawled into bed with her Mommy and Daddy. The next morning she cried and screamed when it was time to get ready to go. She begged to stay home with her Mommy and Daddy. Jennifer sat in the parking lot of the grocery store where she was to meet Enrique for the visit holding Mystic in her arms, reassuring her it would be ok. Enrique showed up and Jennifer pried Mystic’s arms off of her and handed her to Enrique. AS they walked away, Mystic yelled back, “Mommy, I love you! Can I have a hug?” Enrique stopped long enough to let Jennifer give her little girl one last hug and tell her she loved her and would see her at 5:30pm when she came to pick her up

    Six-year-old Clifton girl missing

    By Emily Anderson
    Grand Junction, CO Colorado

GRAND JUNCTION — Six-year-old Mystic Salazar of Clifton was supposed to return from an eight-hour visit with her biological father at 5:30 p.m. Sunday so she’d have time to get ready for her first day of school.

She never got to school. And her father, Enrique Arreola-Lopez of Centennial, never returned to the Clifton City Market parking lot where he was supposed to return Salazar to the family she’s lived with since she was a toddler.

The girl has lived full-time with Amie Salazar and Jennifer Davis since December 2006. Mystic stayed with the couple and their four children for weeks at a time before then when her mother, Twalla Blacksher of Littleton, would drop her off, Davis said. Amie Salazar was once married to Blacksher, who was in jail from April to October of last year.

Davis and Salazar filed a petition for parental rights of Mystic, pronounced Mystique, in August 2007. Blacksher protested the petition in January.

Arreola-Lopez protested the petition last fall. He met his daughter for the first time in April and has had periodic single-day court-ordered visits with Mystic since then.

" HI PRECIOUS! WE GOT THE CALL TODAY! MOMMY AND DADDY ARE COMING TO PICK YOU UP! WE LOVE YOU AND HAVE MISSED YOU SO MUCH! WE WILL SEE YOU TOMORROW! CANNOPT WAIT TO HUG YOU AND SEE YOUR SMILES!"

MYSTIC DAWN SALAZAR WAS LOCATED AND TAKEN INTO PROTECTIVE CUSTODY TODAY IN MICHIGAN!

The above from her mothers facebook - how amazing! Its so refreshing to have a story with a happy ending. Shame on her father for putting her into this situation, I wonder what he told her to hide the fact that he kidnapped her so she wouldnt reach out to her mother. Nearly two years is a long time and I hope that she can pick up where things left off without much worry.
