Not much news is being released about this case yet, but... what a horrible thing to happen just a few days before Christmas :(

My stepdaughter's mother lives 3 houses down from where it happened, so I have a little more info than what is in the papers this morning.

Apparently by 4:30 in the afternoon the street was already cordoned off. From what I hear, the woman has 3 children, two of them living at home (teenagers). The son apparently returning from school, found his mother still alive, going through seizures. Apparently she had been shot during what is tentatively called a home invasion. It sounds as if she passed away a little time after she was found.

Not much sleep in this house tonight, as my stepdaughter (who lives with us) is good friends with the teenage daughter of the victim.

There still is very little about this is in the news....

Video at above site. The neighbor being interviewed once called police on my husband because he was parked at the sidewalk while dropping his daughter off at her mother's house at 9:30 p.m. If anyone saw something, this neighbor definitely would have, because he is always either outside or looking out the window.

The video said police thought it was happenstance but the article says neighbors should not be concerned about a murderer on the loose in Creve. I don't know about ya'll but I would be; at least until they could tell me who was responsible. I am truly sorry about all the teens that are involved; daughter, son who found his mom, friends of the teens like your stepdaughter. I am sure they are very stunned and saddened.

Anyone else's hinky meter going off? LE tells people not to worry, there isn't a murderer on the loose--sounds like it must be another case of a wife killed by her husband or someone she knows.

From December 2010:

St. Louis County Circuit Judge John Ross ordered two life terms in prison for [Lorenzo] Wilson... Wilson, 19, who lived in Maryland Heights, pleaded guilty Nov. 18 of second-degree murder, robbery, burglary, stealing and armed criminal action.

An accomplice, Kenneth E. Shepard, of Creve Coeur, previously pleaded guilty of similar charges and was sentenced to 20 years in prison...

When Schaffer arrived at her house in the 12900 block of Nimes Drive during the crime, they said, Wilson shot her before the intruders fled with a computer, camera and iPod.
