ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- Casey Anthony's defense team filed another motion in court on Wednesday, requesting access to examine all the debris from the crime scene before it is discarded.

Because the motion was filed after the Orange County Clerk of Courts closed, the motion is not yet available to the public.

Please remember this thread is for NEW information for TODAY ONLY.

The idea for this thread is people can check here on a daily basis and see what has happened today and that is new. If we have to go through posts with updated information from yesterday, it is kind of defeating the purpose.

Thanks to everyone that keep this thread going.

Investigators are expected to be back today at the woods area near the Anthony family home in east Orange County where the remains of a child -- a child thought to be Caylee Marie Anthony -- were discovered a week ago.

Local and federal investigators continued to pull brush and sift through the woods Wednesday and said their search area had grown to about an acre.

"This morning and through this afternoon, they continue to find additional items," sheriff's spokesman Capt. Angelo Nieves said about noon Wednesday.

The Daily Update thread is getting very confusing. We have numerous online news sites covering the Anthony case and all of them are reporting on the exact same information.

We only need from one source to get the updated information out there for the day. Before posting a news report, please check to see if another link was provided by another online news site .... WFTV, WESH, ORLANDO, etc., etc

Too many reported post on duplicate information!

Thanks

Below is a link to WESH noon newscast. Maybe they'll have some developing info.

Black said the defense has made "numerous attempts to preserve the evidence" near where the child's remains were found, but police and prosecutors have been uncooperative.

"This has become a malicious, nasty case," Black said on Thursday. "Even in the worst cases, like O.J. Simpson, I've never seen an investigation tell a defense team to go to hell."

Though he admitted police haven't actually uttered those words, he said "their conduct tells you that," because they haven't kept the defense team informed and won't let them observe their work at the crime scene.

"Some of their comments are blatant lies," Black said. "History has shown that in some cases authorities have been caught tampering with evidence. That is something we hope is not happening. We're not accusing anyone of anything."

Among the lies he is accusing the sheriff's office of telling are statements about clothing found with the child's remains and the implication that the area where they were discovered hadn't been searched before.

Black said EquuSearch volunteers were the only ones who hadn't previously scoured the wooded lot.

"When [police] started searching for that child, they went into that area several times — with dogs, with people. Not once, but several times," Black said. "It's kind of suspicious."

He suggested the bones might have been dumped there by the person Anthony says took her daughter.

"It seems like somebody may have been waiting ... somebody may have thought, they're done with that area, so let's dump it," Black said. "If that occurred, Miss Anthony was locked up all that time."

The defense is backing Anthony's claim that her daughter was kidnapped by a baby sitter named Zenaida Gonzalez, a name police say is made up.

Caylee Anthony case: NBC's Dan Abrams says not since O.J. Simpson trial has he seen such a big-name forensics team

How big could the Casey Anthony trial be? You're going to keep hearing comparisons to the O.J. Simpson case.

NBC's Dan Abrams (pictured) drew one on Thursday's "Today." "Not since the O.J. Simpson case have I seen a team assembled of such high-profile forensics scientists on a defense team," he told Meredith Vieira.

And why would Casey Anthony, who has been charged with daughter Caylee's murder, require such a team?

Thursday, Dec. 18
2:00 p.m.: News 13 learns when an identification of the bones are made, if they belong to Caylee, the first person who will be notified will be her mother, Casey Anthony.
12:05 p.m.: News 13 has learned that the owner of the property being searched is Thomas Hendricks, who has a post office box in Winter Park, but may not live in Florida. He is listed as the owner of 25 pieces of land in Orange County, Florda alone. Records show he owns land in a number of states. So far, he has remained silent about the search on his land.

Well, I hadn't seen any of the above on the updates yet so I apologize for any repitition. What to glean from it: Casey Anthony is the first to be notified, and the name of the man owning the land upon which the remains have been located has been discovered.

Casey Anthony Defense Worried Police Are Tampering With Evidence, Accuse Cops of Lying
Thursday, December 18, 2008

By Catherine Donaldson-Evans

A spokesman for Casey Anthony's defense lawyer accused police of lying to the press and suggested they could be tampering with evidence at the site where a little child's bones were found.

Todd Black, a spokesman for Anthony's lead attorney Jose Baez, complained that investigators won't let the defense team observe their work at the scene where remains believed to be those of Anthony's daughter Caylee were discovered.
