VA-24 teen girls missing in Alexandria, VA, 2006-2008

While putting together a map of Virginia's missing adult females and a separate map for recently missing children, this set bells off in my mind.

24 girls have gone missing in Alexandria, VA alone between 2006 and today. 19 out of 24 have been Hispanic teens, with the remainder being African American. All but two went missing in 2008.

I believe that most of these girls might be caught up in a prostitution ring. There was an article in an Alexandria newspaper about a couple being busted for running one in that town and carrying young girls over into Washington. The reason they got busted being that they used the Internet to lure a CA teen to VA. The other possibility is a serial killer with the non-Hispanic teens being unrelated cases.

These are all beautiful girls. It's devastating to think that they could be trapped in that situation (or worse) and this is not getting any attention at all.

    Timeline:
    Roxana Linares - missing Nov 27, 2006
Robinique Nicole Scott - missing Nov 7, 2007
Jasmine Renne Lee - missing Feb 21, 2008
Brittney Lacha James - missing Apr 10, 2008
    Melissa Thomas - missing Apr 12, 2008
Adela Marivel Maravilla Martinez - missing Apr 15, 2008
Dayana Beatriz Carranza - missing May 16, 2008
    Rania Lamlih - missing Jun 14, 2008
    Tanya Chicas - missing Jun 16, 2008
Shanika Faye Morgan - missing Jun 16, 2008
Stephany Elizabeth Sigaran Parada - missing Jun 19, 2008
    Janell Nicole Taylor - Jun 30, 2008
Michele Lanea Abner - missing Jul 11, 2008
    Elsy Arely Medrano-Velis - missing Jul 17, 2008
Azure Michelle Rodriguez - missing Aug 4, 2008
Alexandra Valentine Ballard - missing Aug 5, 2008
    Hegriselda Marintez - missing Aug 29, 2008
Tania Esmeralda Rosales Chavez - missing Sep 9, 2008
Lesni Carolina Martinez - missing Sep 11, 2008
Flor Estela Rivera - missing Oct 3, 2008
Andrea Abuid Salvatierra - missing Oct 17, 2008
Kenzy Nia Case - missing Nov 14, 2008
Heidi Carolina Beltran - missing Nov 16, 2008
    Rebeca Melendez - missing Nov 21, 2008

My Google map of missing teens in VA has all their info and pictures:
    http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=en...2,9.887695&z=7

I do not believe that all of these girls are just coincidental runaways. I believe that most if not all have been abducted.

Where does one go next in looking for clues? MySpace? Craigslist?

I think Craigslist might be the way to go initially. I'd start here:

Great mapwork, Shannon. It is sad to see how many teens are listed as missing. Myspace seems to be a spot checked for info.

*eek* Jane you are too right. I can't believe people can do that legally. I feel sorry for the men and women who are exploiting themselves in that fashion. I feel worse for children who are lured in by creeps.

There was one girl on CL that did look familiar to me but she wasn't one of the missing in Alexandria. I suppose it's possible she could match someone else missing in VA though. Interesting to me was that she was the only one so far who was not nude or in lingerie, but fully dressed. That indicates to me that she could be a minor and the people responsible are being careful.

I feel creepy looking at all those ads. *shudder*

Is it a child sex trafficing ring going on there?
Has the Jane Does for the area been checked to see if there's any matches?

Right now I am still convinced that this is trafficking related.

I have not found a single article mentioning any unidentified bodies in Alexandria or nearby areas so far this year. The only articles written were related to those that have already been identified.

I haven't found any list of UID's in VA except on Doe and theirs are not very recent findings. The state police department does not have a section of their website for UID's, just missing persons. Likewise for the Alexandria area police department.

What's interesting as well is how a lot of the nearby areas where there are missing teens are a straight shot up to Alexandria where all of those are missing. Missing teens in Dumfries, Spotsylvania, Richmond, etc all live close to I-95, which is a straight shot back up to Alexandria.

I can't find any newspaper articles about any of these girls being reported as runaways so far, just the tiny snippet of info posted on NCMEC (same as the State Police web).

I ran a report on crimereports.com of those reported as missing persons/kidnappings in the Alexandria area in 2008 and have been attempting to match those dates with the girls above. However, crimereports.com does not give any info on who the person was, not even male/female, so I have no real way of knowing if I'm looking at the correct report for the right girl. Matching them to the reports would enable me to place them on the EXACT road they were reported missing on. Then maybe that would form some sort of pattern.

This looks like Tanya Chicas' MySpace (though it says it hasn't been used since Jan 2006, is it possible to mask or change your last login?). She says she's in Maryland.

Either the family moved to Maryland and then came back to VA and she ran away, or she ran away to Maryland in 2006 and was found and brought back.

It's possible that this could be Robinique Scott's MySpace page:
    http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...endID=44419013

NCMEC says she may go by Robin and this page came up when I searched by the name "Robin Scott."
The pic is terrible but her hair looks similar in the pic on the page. Also the title "Gone" at the top of the page is suspicious.

I believe that this is Dayana Beatriz Carranza's MySpace (last login 2007)

    Is this India Delray Castillo?

I would like to add that sometimes when people start a myspace account they will either show the state they do live in or sometimes they will show a state other then the one the really live in. on my own account I did not show the state I live in, but chose another one instead. login stamps can be turned off by the owner of the account.

I sent the MySpace links to the State Police website just in case. I'm pretty sure they already know about them but I don't want to assume anything.

Mainly because the one I believe is India Castillo was last logged into at 11/25/2008 and the title (even though the rest of the page is private) says "missin home." There might be more information that the public cannot see because the page is set to private, but LE can definitely get that from MySpace.

I have been reading up on Alexandria to get a feel for the area. I'm a SO VA resident and have never been that far north in the state before.
    By 2005 58.3% of Alexandria's population was non-Hispanic whites. 21.7% were African-Americans, 0.4% Native Americans, 5.3% Asian and 13.7% Latino.

According to a 2006 estimate, the median income for a household in the city was $80,449, and the median income for a family was $102,388. Males had a median income of $47,514 versus $41,254 for females. The per capita income for the city was $37,645. 8.9% of the population and 6.8% of families were below the poverty line. 13.9% of those under the age of 18 and 9.0% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
I'm super, super amateur at this but I'm totally trying to be an advocate for the missing teens in my state. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

Right now I am moving away completely from figuring out "the reason" that these girls are missing and focusing on details that might bring them home.

    Child Sex Trafficking

    Shannon,

You may be correct in your assumptions concerning child sex trafficking. This form of exploitation is greater than many allow themselves to believe. One of my primary responsibilities with our foundation is the search for and hopeful rescue of children involved in sex trafficking. We have traveled throughout the United States for the past 2 years researching this problem. ((one of the reasons you have seen us on here much, nor heard much about our searches))

We have fortunately assisted with a number of rescues of children (many of them NCIC listed missing children), and unfortunately seen many others still out there.

The Virginia/Washington DC area has a well-established pimp culture with an extremely organized sex trade. This sex trade exists online, on the street and in "mobile" brothels.

If we can be of any assistance, research wise or other, please don't hesitate to call.

Thank-you for your work on this and to "help stop crimes against children."

BTW - for more information concerning sex trafficking of children, please watch MSNBC's "Sex Slavery in the Suburbs" which usually airs on Sunday nights - and "outed" our involvement in this fight. You can also go to our website....www.klaaskids.org and click on the Human Trafficking button and read our Fusion Center reports.

    Sincerely,

Thanks so much for the information

I guess it makes sense why I haven't been able to find a single article in any Alexandria area newspaper about these girls or that culture...if the culture is that firmly established there are probably people involved to make sure it doesn't get stopped so easily.

Could Annie Mccann's mysterious death be somehow related to these other cases if she somehow got mixed up with that?

    http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/loc...7603545.column

(you have to scroll down in the article)

"Annie had lived in Alexandria, Va., and her parents made the trip to Baltimore yesterday. They carried a candle to the altar and after the service went to the back of the church for a private moment of prayer. They believe their daughter was killed, have no idea why she suddenly left home and are awaiting results of tests from an FBI lab to learn a cause of death.

On Dec. 19, the McCanns came to Baltimore to meet with homicide detectives, who took them to the spot Annie had been found. It was the first time they'd been there. Mary Jane McCann left behind an angel she had taken from their Christmas tree. The wait for answers is hard. The visit to Perkins Homes was painful.

During the service, the Rev. Jan Hamill singled out Annie McCann, noting her death is not "technically a homicide" but that she deserves to be remembered because "she died in our city."
