Identified! SC - Conway, skeletal remains found, Dec'08 - Jimmie Pajaro

Two hunters found human skeletal remains while walking on a dirt path in a wooded area of Conway late this morning.

Horry County police spokesman Robert Kegler said that the hunters called police about 11:45 a.m. saying that there were skeletal remains scattered off a dirt path that leads into the woods off of West Johnson Road near S.C. 378.

"The bones were scattered, but it does appear to be just one person,'' Kegler said. "There's no way of telling how long the remains have been here at this point. The remains need to be processed, tests need to be done by medical personnel to tell determine sex, age and how long they've been there.''

Circumstances of Disappearance
Massie was last seen at a drive-up ATM in Myrtle Beach. A photo shows him making a small transaction at 3:00 p.m.
His vehicle was located in the woods June 17, 1992 in Sussex County, Virginia, approximately 5 hours from Myrtle Beach. The license plate was removed. Some personal articles were found in the car.
Massie lived in Akron, OH. at the time.
There has been no activity on his social security number since the time of his disappearance.

Horry County police will use dental records to confirm the identity of human remains discovered last week, but they think they have an idea about the identity of the remains.

They are not releasing any specifics at this time.

Last Wednesday, a deer hunter found a human skull and bones in some woods off West Johnson Road near Hendrick's Shortcut.

Police began investigating the case as a homicide because so little was known about the circumstances surrounding the death, but a spokesman said Monday it does not appear to involve a homicide.

Police believe the bones are those of an adult male, but they're waiting to find out if dental records match before releasing any more information.

Horry County police said Monday they have an idea of the identity of skeletal remains found by hunters last week near Conway, but they are waiting for dental records before releasing any details.
Police believe the remains belong to an adult male, who Sgt. Robert Kegler said is listed as a missing person.
Kegler said details will be released if dental records confirm the identity of the remains.
The results from the dental record testing will not be available until next week, a press release said.

Police responded to West Johnston Road in Horry County after hunters found the bones in a wooded area.
Officers tell NewsChannel 15 tests have confirmed the remains are those of Jimmie John Pajaro, who had been missing since September 8th.
Coroner Edge says because they were so badly deteriorated, the remains were sent to an anthropologist in Charleston for an advanced examination.
Horry County police continue to investigate.
