There are a couple of reasons why it is difficult to accurate charts for the inauguration, Salem.

First, we really do not know Obama's birth date and time. There are a lot of lawsuits demanding that he give his "long-form" birth certificate, signed by an attending physician, showing hospital location, time, parentage, etc. He supposedly has spent quite a lot of money on lawyers trying to stop these suits.

The second reason is that there is also some speculation that he will actually be sworn in at a private ceremony at a different time. Whether any of this is true or not, I have no idea. You know how difficult is is to be sure of stuff that is going around the internet.

One thing that really bothers me is the position of Obama's Neptune, not only in relation to the swearing in ceremony, but also in his own chart, and to the US natal chart.

Obama, if his birthdate is correct, has Sun square Neptune. His natal Mars is exactly conjunct the US Neptune. And, on Inauguration Day, transiting Saturn is conjunct Obama's natal Mars.

And, if you remember, we are enjoying a nice long recurring Saturn/Uranus opposition.

Now, the keywords for the planets involved are as in mundane astrology is as follows:

    Neptune
    - rules socialism, communism and left-wing political ideas (its urge is towards collectivism). It is linked with mobs, secret plots, sedition, fraud and swindling, all illicit undertakings, bogus companies, loss and vice.

    The Sun
    - represents the Prime Minister, President, Head of State, monarch, aristocracy, magistrates, judges and all persons in authority and of distinction, Cabinet ministers and the like. It also represents public heroes and national champions.

    Mars
    - governs the military, soldiers and noted military and naval men. War, terrorist attacks, industrial disputes, strikes and conflicts. Opposition forces. Fire, fire services, arson and incendiarism.

    Saturn
    - has chief influence over elderly people and governs the national death rate. Life-threatening epidemics. Land-owners, farmers, mines, coal and industries connected to metals and minerals. State funerals, public sorrow and dissapointment.

Now, about the Inauguration Chart itself...

First off, the Moon is void-of course. Traditionally things that happen under a Void of course moon do not work out well, or come to fruition, and this moon is at the last degree of Scorpio, unpleasant position actually!

Next, Mercury will be retrograde. Not a good situation for undertaking new projects! My guess is that Obama's administration is going to disappoint a lot of people, and he will face a lot of challenges and hostility.

We will have to wait and see how things turn out for our nation. I am worried. Most astrologers are very liberal, I find, and would not worry about Obama's impact on our nation as I do, just so you know.

Thank you housemouse! I appreciate this information. I'm a little worried myself and wish inauguration day was over already.

I pretty much walk the line between conservatism and liberalism. I like things balanced and I am very conflicted about this new administration that is coming in, so I'm going to wait and see what happens.

Just so you know, Salem, and others lurking here...

I am not a Democrat or a Republican. I am not a moderate either. I am a Conservative.

That means I believe in our Constitution as it was written. The closer we adhere to that, the safer we will be. Unfortunately I am in a very small minority, particularly among present day astrologers.

I do not think any republic, based on democracy, has managed to endure much past 200 years. I am now growing doubtful that our noble experiment will survive Pluto's passage through Capricorn.

It makes me very sad to type this, because I wish it weren't going to happen, but we Americans have lost what made us great, and we have only our own human nature to blame.

Housemouse, I've read your threads nearly every day. I just wanted to say I appreciate your views on astrology and religion so very much. Thanks for sharing your talent and insight.

President Bush warned the candidates, during the campaign, to be careful about making promises about the war and the troops, because things look very different from his side of the desk. At one point, and I'm not sure if it was just before or after the election (personal distraction) Pres. Bush had a meeting with Mr. Obama, that was called unprecedented by the press. After that meeting I noticed a marked, almost dramatic change in Mr. Obama's expressions, physically and verbally. Did you also notice, and/or would the dates of those statements be important?

Housemouse - could not that greatness just be lying dormant for the present time? It takes great work to be great ALL the time, maybe we are just resting?

Okay - I started to go all philosophical here, but this probably is not the right place........

I do appreciate what you are saying.

Help me be more optimistic, Salem. Tell me what you see in our present culture that gives you hope that we can go back to the call of our founding fathers, that we are all entitled by our creator (not our government) to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"

We are not entitled to food stamps, welfare, jobs, health care, etc.

Pluto in Capricorn will be a very interesting lesson for us. Our government could easily fall, because it is promising everything to everyone. When it can't deliver on all these silly promises, what do you think is going to happen?

    HI there housemouse;

I had to chime in I hope you are well up there in the cold...
I am liberal (most of the time) I am an amatuer astrologer but I also have my concerns about Obama's presidency....big concerns...The Rock star status...There is just to much hype, for my head to not hurt and my inner skeptic is just screaming.
I watch USGS constantly..A little concerned.
Anyway Stay warm everyone...many blessings Carrie

Things are not going flawlessly with the inauguration today.

First, taking the oath didn't go very smoothly. Second, Sen. Kennedy and Sen. Byrd collapsed during the luncheon. Kennedy, apparently with convulsive seizures, was taken out on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance.

Let's pray the rest of the day goes well.
