NY - Sarah Fox, 21, Inwood Hill, NYC, 19 May 2004

Sarah Fox is a 21 year old drama student who went missing.
Her roommate was the last person to see her and said she left yesterday to either go workout at a gym or go to a park.
LE is taking this an abduction because she left with only her keys (her id,money etc was left at home).Im glad the Police are looking but you wonder why most missing adult cases arent treated like this!

Actually, I think she left on Wednesday, so she has been missing for 4 days. Just wanted to clarify.

When Sarah Fox was a teenager, she would tell her mother where she was going even if it was just across the street.

That makes Fox's disappearance five days ago all the more frightening to those who know her.

"Sarah is very responsible, and she really understands the importance of friends and family," said Jake Browne of Logan, who graduated from Gloucester County Institute of Technology with Fox in 2001. "She's not the type of person who would just up and go without letting anyone know."

Fox - who grew up in Pennsauken and has family in Gibbstown - was last seen between 4 and 5 p.m. Wednesday near Isham Street and Broadway in the northern Manhattan neighborhood where she lives.

A desperate search is underway to find a missing drama student from Julliard.

This young lady's family is from Southern New Jersey and they are very upset. This is the sixth day that no one has seen or heard from Sarah. She grabbed her keys and yelled out to her roommate, "see you later" and then she disappeared.

Classmates, faculty and friends at Juilliard created a website that includes a description and requests information about Sarah. She is described as being short at 5'1" and having cropped, short blond hair and a tribal tattoo on her back.

    Body Of Juilliard Student Found

Body Found Near Where Jogger Vanished

    By Nina Pineda
(New York-WABC, May 25, 2004) The body of a woman has been found near the location where a young Juilliard student disappeared

Police still have not said whether the body they found is that of missing Juilliard student Sarah Fox. Fox disappeared six days ago after leaving her apartment in Inwood.

Today police found a woman's body in Inwood Hill Park, near the pathways where flyers of Fox are taped up.

Nina Pineda reports from the scene.

At just about 5:00 p.m. police brought the body out and loaded it into the medical examiner's van. The body was in a very hard spot to reach, and police say it doesn't seem she could have fallen from anywhere.

Mystery turned to tragedy yesterday when volunteer searchers combing an upper Manhattan park found the naked body of a woman believed to be a missing Juilliard student.
Cops are investigating the death as a homicide, said several police sources, with positive identification expected as soon as today.

Pixieish aspiring actress Sarah Fox, 21, had disappeared after she left her apartment in running tights and a T-shirt about 5 p.m. on May 19 to jog through nearby Inwood Hill Park.

"Your gut drops. I just didn't want to find this thing," said John Higgins, a next-door neighbor of Fox's and one of the searchers who found the body lodged in mud amid woods and thorny bushes on the northern edge of the park.

"No one would go in there, at least not of their own volition," Higgins said.

The body matches Fox's description, including a tribal tattoo on her lower back, a police source said.

Ten volunteers walking through the park around 1 p.m. spotted the body on a damp patch of ground, 200 feet south of a toll plaza, between the Henry Hudson Parkway and some Amtrak railroad tracks.

Worried classmates first went looking for Fox, a South Jersey native and third-year drama student at the prestigious performing arts school, at the park early Thursday.

They handed out pictures and flyers with Fox's description to anyone who would take them.

They reported Fox missing Friday, and cops launched a search Saturday with helicopters and bloodhounds but came up empty.

Relatives and friends went back to the park Sunday, distributed flyers and offered a $10,000 reward for information on Fox's disappearance.

Cops and two busloads of Fox's relatives and friends were canvassing the park yesterday when the body was found.

After the grim discovery, the volunteers emerged from the woods and gathered at a baseball field off Dyckman St., crying and comforting one another.

"There's still hope," said Sarah Wilson, a close friend of Fox's who participated in the search. "[The body] is still unidentified."

The mud and recent heat accelerated the body's decomposition, a police source said. However, cops are all but convinced that the body is Fox's and suspect foul play, several sources said. They were checking surveillance cameras in the area and using a police dog to search for evidence.

A positive identification and cause of death will not be available until the medical examiner performs an autopsy today.

The 5-foot-2, 110-pound Fox grew up in Pennsauken, N.J., and moved to New York after she enrolled at Juilliard.

There are chilling details today about the murder of a Juilliard student. Police say new information suggests the woman was killed in a ritual.
It is a murder investigation that is wide open, according to one official. With strange new details coming out, police are turning to unusual sources for help.

Sarah Fox's strangled, nude body was discovered Tuesday, in a secluded, wooded area of Inwood Hill Park. Investigators now believe the 21-year-old Juilliard student may have been the target of a deranged killer with ritualistic tendencies.

Police say Fox's body appeared to have been posed, and yellow tulip petals and branches were placed around the corpse.

Police are trying to determine whether clothes recovered in a city park are those of a murdered South Jersey woman.
The clothes were found a few hundred feet from the body of Sarah Fox, a 21-year-old aspiring actress from Pennsauken who was studying at the Juilliard School. Investigators did not describe the clothing in detail, but published reports indicated it included running tights, a T-shirt and white socks.

Detectives hunting the killer of Juilliard student Sarah Fox are poring over files from earlier Upper Manhattan sex attacks to assess whether they're dealing with a budding serial killer, sources said.

Investigators have also uncovered a vital detail they can use to prove whether they've found the killer when an arrest is made. For obvious reasons, they did not reveal what it was. As to the other cases, police records show an 18-year-old woman was fondled as she entered her Inwood building in March, and a 41-year-old woman was groped in the lobby of her Washington Heights building

One afternoon last May, Sarah Fox set out for a run in a serene, wooded section of upper Manhattan. She never returned.

A year after the 21-year-old Juilliard drama student's nude and decomposing body was found in the underbrush in Inwood Hill Park, her slaying by strangulation remains one of city's more perplexing unsolved homicides.

Detectives have serious questions - about a man known in Fox's neighborhood known for his quick temper, about whether the woman was sexually assaulted and about tulip tree petals found scattered around her body.

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

The 21-year-old drama student's nude body was found last May 25 - six days after she was last seen alive. She was lying in a remote section of Inwood Hill Park not far from her apartment.

The No. 1 suspect remains Dimitri Sheinman, a 40-year-old artist who caught cops' attention when he came forward describing himself as a psychic and offering to help solve the slaying with his "visions," police officials said.

"He came in. He stated he was a clairvoyant and that he could assist us in the investigation with what he had seen in his dreams - with his fortune-telling gift," said NYPD Detective Kevin Arias.

Sheinman's visions fit the crime-scene perfectly. He knew that Fox's body was found naked, tulip tree petals were around her and a stick was between her legs, detectives said. He knew details that hadn't been publicized, they said.

"Right then and there he became our No. 1 person of interest," Arias said. "Like they say on TV, our suspect."
