I hope we're not seeing a pattern here.. so many of these cases lately..:furious:

"Two people died Saturday night and seven were wounded in a shooting in southeast Wichita. One of the survivors was in critical condition at a Wichita hospital, and four were listed as serious. Some were taken to the hospital by ambulance; others arrived on their own.
Deputy Police Chief Robert Lee said the shooting occurred about 9:30 p.m. during a wake at a home in the 2900 block of East Dunham, which is just northwest of 31st Street South and Hillside.
"During the wake, persons arrived and fired," Lee said, but he could not specify how many gunmen there were. "There were quite a few folks in the house. Nine were shot."

"WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A "very brazen" drive-by shooting at a weekend wake that killed two people and wounded eight others was apparently gang retaliation for a slaying at a wedding two years ago, police said Monday.Between 50 and 100 people were at the wake Saturday evening for a 49-year-old woman who had died of heart complications, said police Lt. Ken Landwehr.
The traditional Laotian wake was in its ninth and final day, and guests were gathered inside a house, around the garage and in tents set up in the backyard.
Shots were fired from one or two cars into a group standing in or just outside the garage, Landwehr said."

Gang retaliation in this case..

I forgot about this one too! Sheesh. Lots of mass shootings for one weekend. And nothing in the news. Weird.

Some background on the likely suspect pool, from March 2010:

http://www.kansas.com/news/local/crime/article1061572.html

When Wichita authorities arrested and charged five documented members of Asian gangs this week in connection with a fatal shooting outside a restaurant and a violent fight outside a nightclub, it represented a key breakthrough, a police official said. For years, Wichita investigators have struggled to solve violent crimes in the Asian community partly because of that culture's distrust of police...

Police think some of the same suspects could have been involved in a double homicide in early 2009 at a funeral wake and a shooting death in 2006 outside a wedding reception at the Mid-America All-Indian Center. Police have said the wake shooting came in retaliation for the Indian Center shooting...

"They're just so violent, that at some point we just have to get this group off the street, or we're going to keep having problems in this community... I think people... know they're so violent, and if they don't come forward, this is going to continue,'' Stolz said.

From December 2012:

Wichita police and the local Crime Stoppers group have doubled the reward for tips leading to an arrest in a double homicide nearly four years ago...

Sixty-six-year-old Keo Intavong and 22-year-old Jeffrey Chitanavong were killed on Jan. 24, 2009, in a drive-by shooting that also injured more than a dozen others.
