Missing Girl, 11, Might Have Run Off With 23-Year-Old Man

Police are searching for an 11-year-old Texas girl who they say took off with a 23-year-old man she'd been sneaking out with.

Julissa, who goes by her middle name, was last seen in her bedroom around 11 p.m. Saturday. By 5 a.m. Sunday, she was gone. Police have issued an Amber Alert.

The note also said that the girl would call her parents if she made it to Mexico, Martin said.

They believe she's with Enrique Vasquez, a Mexican national who is on probation relating to burglary and assault charges in 2006, Martin said. Martin said Vasquez works as a day laborer and might be in the United States illegally.

"Last night we notified all the border stations to be on the lookout," Martin said, adding that the closest authorized border crossing is about a 12-hour drive from Tyler.

Citing the ongoing investigation, Martin would not release information about how Julissa and Vasquez had met, how long they'd allegedly been seeing each other or the nature of the alleged relationship, only that they believed she had sneaked out with Vasquez for "several nights."

Car Sought in Amber Alert Involved in Hit-And-Run
Man matching wanted man's description flees the scene of the crash.

The car associated with a man wanted in connection with a missing 11-year-old girl was involved in a hit-and-run in Irving Tuesday.

Police said Enrique Vasquez and the missing child, Iridian Rodriguez, were possibly headed to Mexico after she was reported missing in Tyler last weekend. According to police, the girl had been sneaking out to see Vasquez.

Vasquez's 1999 blue Firebird was involved in a three-car hit-and-run crash just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Witnesses told police that the driver of the vehicle, whose description matched Vasquez's, fled the scene on foot. According to witnesses, there were no reports of a female being in the vehicle or leaving the vehicle.

The vehicle is now being investigated for any possible clue that may lead police to Rodriguez's location.

Oh I hope she is ok. Him fleaing and her not being in the car is not a good sign. My daughter is 12 they know so much more than the should these days. This little girl should have been planning trips to the skating rink, movies, and hanging out with friends. Not running off with a grown man. I hope they find her safe and soon.

Missing Tyler Girl In Mexico, Calls Mother

Tyler Police Public Information Officer Don Martin confirmed Friday night that 11-year-old Iridian Julissa Rodriguez, the Tyler girl that has been missing since last week, is in Mexico. Martin said the girl called her mother on her cell phone while she was at the Tyler Police Department talking to investigators.

“We know she is alive and we have some idea about where she’s at,” Martin said.

Local, state and federal agents are working to get the girl into custody of relatives in Mexico, he said.

Julissa is believed to have been taken by Enrique Vasquez, a 23-year-old man she calls her boyfriend and it is assumed that he is with her in Mexico.

Tyler and Irving police departments issued a CodeRED alert in an effort to recover the child, and arrest Vasquez on a kidnapping warrant earlier this week.

CodeRED allows authorities to deliver pre-recorded emergency messages directly to homes and businesses in an area. The car Vasquez is believed to have been driving was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Irving on Tuesday afternoon, Martin said.

In 2006, Vasquez was arrested on charges involving attacking a young girl in her parent’s home.

Police have been pursuing Vasquez ever since Julissa left a note that she was leaving with the man. She was last seen by her family on Saturday.

Thanks for posting the update, Tonia. At the end you updated that she is in custody so I am just posting more info from that article. Hopefully they can bring her home soon and work out some of the problems she was having to make her leave in the first place.

UPDATE: Missing Tyler Girl In Custody of Mexican Relatives

An 11-year-old East Texas girl believed to have run away with a convicted felon is in the care of a relative in Mexico, according to Tyler Police.

Police said this morning that they are working with U.S. and Mexican authorities to apprehend 23-year-old Enrique Vasquez in Mexico.

The girl's friends have described Vasquez as her boyfriend. The girl's parents say Vasquez played soccer with her father, but they were unaware of any relationship between the two. They say he did not have permission to take their child.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for Vasquez on charges of kidnapping and violating probation.

Just as a side note, the picture they have on that site makes her really look like the 11 year old that she is.
