Carmen Cardenas, 36, of Lakeland.
LAKELAND, Fla. -- A woman was arrested Thursday on suspicion of abusing a 1-month-old boy, who has a fractured skull, a cut and bruises, Polk County authorities said.
Carmen Cardenas, 36, of Lakeland, was arrested on felony charges of aggravated child abuse.
For the love of God, if the father had his suspicions, why did it have to go this far?!!Say what you mean, mean what you say, but don't say it mean.
We are all just trying to make sense of an unimaginable crime.

The medical staff at St. Joseph's said the baby had a bruise to the back of the head, a bruise to the right side of his forehead above his eye, a fracture to the right side of his skull above his ear, two bruises on the front of his body above his groin, and a cut on his genitals.

Look at the bags under her eyes. Clearly she was not getting much sleep and clearly she decided to take out her anger on her baby

They should have arrested the husband too, sorry, you cannot just see signs of a 1 MONTH OLD, but not enough to confront? Sorry, not buying it.
How sad, I hope this baby is going to be alright. There is just no excuse..
What is it going to take to stop behavior such as this?Justice For Caylee Marie

You are very fortunate to be in that position Broderick-not all people are. And this article proves that some babies aren't even safe in their own homes. You won't cry for my absence, I know -
You forgot me long ago. Am I that unimportant...?
Am I so insignificant...? Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?

This is so sad. In a world where people feel entitled to put themselves first, it's no surprise that so many babies end up in these situations. I wish we had a better system for educating and counseling parents and parents-to-be. It's a tragedy that this thirty-six year old woman was not equipped with the patience, empathy or self-control to care for her own newborn.

Surely the only thing that will make them stop and consider what they are doing is fear for themselves. There needs to be some extra special sentencing in these cases. I don't think counseling beforehand will have much influence on these beings.
We like to believe that we are a people who have rejected barbaric practices, but in the light of what is going on in our society, maybe a little barbaric punishment is what is needed.narrow, limited thinker, but I'm trying to grow
