Casey Anthony takes the Fifth in defamation suit

Casey Anthony doesn't plan on answering a series of written questions posed on behalf of a woman suing her, including whether Anthony knows who killed her daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony, and whether she was involved.

Anthony, who faces a murder charge in her daughter's death, is going to reply to each question by citing her Fifth Amendment right because of concerns the answers could be used in the criminal case against her, her civil attorney, Jonathan Kasen, said Monday.
Lawyers for Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, who filed a defamation suit against the Orange County murder suspect, sent the questions to Anthony's attorney Monday, according to court documents.

Anthony Family To Be Deposed In Civil Case
Casey Anthony Charged With Murder In Daughter's Death

George and Cindy Anthony, and Casey Anthony's brother, Lee Anthony, are scheduled to be deposed at the end of February by Gonzalez's attorneys, who recently submitted a questionnaire they want Casey Anthony to answer in jail.
Casey Anthony's civil attorney, Jon Kasen, said his client will fill out her name and date of birth but she will plead the Fifth Amendment on all the questions.

George Anthony Remains Hospitalized
Conway said he expects to know on Tuesday when George Anthony will be released from Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach. Conway said it's been difficult trying to find a treatment center close to the Anthony family's east Orange County home.

Tax Dollars Paid In Case
Local 6 News has learned that at least $7,500 is being paid by Orange County to the attorney representing Roy Kronk, the meter reader who found Caylee's remains.

A source close to the investigation into the death of Caylee Anthony told WESH 2 they would not oppose the Anthony family reuniting at the Orange County Jail with their daughter, Casey Anthony, via a video hookup. But that would be the closest they could come to mourning Caylee as a family.

The lawyers for George, Cindy and Lee Anthony said the family would like to have some time to grieve Caylee together. A corrections spokesman said it would be "highly unlikely" the family could reunite with Casey Anthony in the jail in person.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Attorney John Morgan said Tuesday he plans to videotape depositions with Casey Anthony&#8217;s family members and release them to the public.

WKMG's Mike DeForest noted that Black has repeatedly said he is not Cabot. Even so, Cabot is a consultant for Press Corps. And Press Corps issued a release that "Todd Black [is] a security name which has been used in rotation by three different staff members on this case. ... Whether Mr. Cabot also participated in that rotation makes no difference whatsoever."
Not so, said public-relations specialist Marti Mackenzie. She told WKMG that a false name undermines what a spokesperson could do for Anthony's case and detracts from the defense team's work. Casey Anthony is accused of murdering her daughter, Caylee.
WOFL-Channel 35 studied George Anthony's recovery after attempting suicide. He remains hospitalized. Mental-health experts told the station that Caylee's grandfather is probably learning ways to cope, lining up outpatient counseling and setting up a support system.

Anthony was released from Halifax Tuesday evening just after 7 p.m.. There is some speculation that Anthony may seek treatment closer to his East Orange County home.
&#8220;George is doing well,&#8221; said Anthony family attorney Brad Conway, &#8220;George realizes that he's gotten a lot of compassion and sympathy out there and certainly got support of family and friends. Now that he's got the sources to lean on in dealing with everything, George and his family have gone through and will likely go through for the next year.
