TX - Susana Puente De Jesus, 37, Pearland, 2 February 2009
17 Feb 09
Volunteers suspended intensive ground searches Tuesday for a 37-year-old woman kidnapped more than two weeks ago from a Pearland-area parking lot, but investigators were still working hard to solve the case.
A masked man forced Susana De Jesus into her 2008 Cadillac the night of Feb. 2 as she and a co-worker left Catherines Plus Sizes, where she was the assistant manager. The co-worker told investigators that a dark SUV-type vehicle followed the Cadillac out of the parking lot.

A woman's body was found dumped in a ditch in far northwest Harris County.
Investigators are trying to identify the body and figure out how it got there. The victim was found off Warren Ranch and Jack Road near the Waller County line.
Deputies say a passerby spotted the body around 7am Sunday. They tell us the woman was either a white or Hispanic woman in her 20s or 30s. They do not believe the body had been there very long.

This is yet another woman that has been identified as Sabrina Pina.
The very scary thing (as I live a short distance from where Sabrina was 'dumped')... is that Sabrina was also seemingly abducted from a shopping mall. Her grocery bags were in the car when the car was found at Krogers. She was missing since Saturday afternoon and a truck driver found Sabrina's body Sunday morning. Autopsy determined it to be Sabrina this morning.
Just so very scary as it sure looks like Houston now has it's own serial killer. I haven't gone to the mall alone or grocery shopping since Susana was abducted.

....very scary...I live very close to were the second lady was abducted....it was in the early afternoon!...there has been a lot of gang activity around those malls ...I'm very afraid it might be related to that.At the other mall parking lot a family was beaten up by gang members as initiation....

Kidnapper seen on fast-food tape
The man police suspect kidnapped a women’s clothing store manager in Pearland on Feb. 2 drove her car to a Houston fast food restaurant before ditching the black 2008 Cadillac at a Houston apartment complex.
Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Chris Kincheloe released surveillance camera photos of the man, taken at a Whataburger in the 7600 block of West Belfort in Houston. The images were captured at about 3:40 a.m. Feb. 3 and show a man leaning into the drive-through window to pay for food at the restaurant
Law enforcement officials said it is too soon to say whether Pina’s abduction is connected to the Feb. 2 kidnapping of Susana de Jesus, a 37-year-old Houston woman taken at gunpoint from a Pearland shopping center, also located in a suburban area near a major freeway. De Jesus has never been found.
Brazoria County sheriff’s detectives who are investigating De Jesus’ disappearance have been in touch with the Harris County sheriff’s homicide investigators working Pina’s case. There was not enough information to compare the crimes Monday, but both agencies will discuss the two cases in the future, said Brazoria County sheriff’s Capt. Chris Kincheloe.
Could these two women be linked?

New information sheds light on Susana de Jesus' abduction
When Brazoria County Sheriff’s detectives first began investigating the mysterious abduction of Susana de Jesus, they quickly thought they had a motive.
Four days later, they made a move to reassure the public, implying the attack might not have been random.
They suspected the motive was a dispute over her late husband’s life insurance policy.
But now a month has passed since de Jesus vanished from the parking lot of a Pearland shopping center, and the leads in the case have turned up empty.
Two men were questioned, but investigators said their DNA was not found in de Jesus’ abandoned Cadillac.
The whole thing started with the 911 call from de Jesus’ coworker, which came in more than an hour after the abduction.
The coworker said de Jesus was taken by an armed, masked man at 9:16 p.m.
But there’s more to that story—de Jesus made two phone calls after she was kidnapped.
At 9:55 p.m., de Jesus called her sister, asking her to tell their mother that she would be late, and that she had to give a coworker a ride home.
At 10:05 p.m., de Jesus made a cryptic phone call to a friend. She asked the friend if someone would still be able to find her if she hadn’t paid her OnStar bill.
That call was traced to a cell phone tower on top of the Astrodome, indicating de Jesus and her kidnapper may have been somewhere around the South Loop.
At 10:31 p.m., the suspect was caught on camera using de Jesus’ ATM card to withdraw money at a bank on Old Spanish Trail.
Around 1 a.m., de Jesus’ sister started to worry and went to HPD’s Mykawa police station to file a missing persons report.
At 2:40 p.m. OnStar began tracking de Jesus’ Cadillac, but Brazoria County detectives didn’t find out about that until much later. OnStar said the car was traveling northbound on Highway 225, driving back toward Houston from the La Porte area.
At 3:26 a.m., the suspect is caught on camera buying food at a Whataburger on West Airport. He stayed there for 14 minutes.
On the tape, the suspect is never seen using his left arm. He is still wearing a glove and appears to have a distinctive nose.
At 4:58 a.m., OnStar located de Jesus’ car, and her sister and a friend rushed to an apartment complex at 6363 West Airport.
At 7:02 a.m., the friend said he saw a black man getting out of de Jesus’ Cadillac at the complex. De Jesus’ sister called 911.
By the time police arrived, the suspect was gone.
Police sources told 11 News and the Laura Recovery Center that a number of things were recovered from de Jesus’ car, besides DNA.
Police said they found money and a gun, which was traced back to three home invasions in the Pearland area.
Those crimes happened before de Jesus disappeared – one of them on the same day of her abduction.

OMG, so much of this is starting to make since. Pearland has always been a nice a suburban area, safe, low crime town. As you read above there have been three robberies here lately, and it's been a big deal. Then this happening... it just seemed too much!
Its good to know that it's one party responsible for all the worry here lately. Now if they could just find out where he/they are!

I, too live in the general area. Pearland is a nice area, basically a suburb of Houston, but has seen tremendous growth in the last few years. Unfortunately, with that, comes an increase in crime. There are some areas due north and southeast of Pearland, which do not have very good reputation. These areas are known for drugs, gangs, burglaries and various other crimes.
Hopefully, the perp responsible for the current string of crimes, including the DeJesus abduction, will do or say something really stupid and get caught SOON!
